CX 340 Config??

I just read the following in airliners.net:
http://www.airliners.net/discussions....main/1808858/

GB, if that is you who typed that post in there regarding the Air China's Airbus, can you pleas elaborate which aircraft contains the inferior F Cabin? Lack of IFE? etc... ?? I thought all the 34C are the same? What do you mean?

There's some confusion of tenses in GB's post there. CX did have some A343s leased from CA, but they are long gone (I'm guessing it is at least 3 years since I have seen one). All CX 343s are now in one of the same two configs (34C or 34D).

No doubt Gear Down could confirm.

Yes they're loooooong gone.

I was just elaborating to airliners.net people that CX did have another A343 in their fleet once upon a time ago that was not 'up to standards'. I was just using past present tense.

I would also think given your extensive travel that you would know the difference been Air China and China Airlines. Air China has no 340's and has not leased any to anyone, by virtue of having none!

While on the OT subject of other regional airbus 340's - has anyone noticed the IDENTICAL seats on the MU aircraft in F (identical to CX that is) rather nice and they have become my preferred options from PVG to CAN and HKG when you get the right plane.

Sorry, I flew on an Air China 340 a few years ago from Fukuoka to Beijing via Dalian. Here is a picture of said aircraft :) !

B Watson, I never claimed I have extensive travel experience. I just travelled on CX and Oneworld partners many times and also the odd Star Alliance and LCC. I never travelled on Air China or China Airlines before.

Basically, if I have it right, Air China is the People's Republic of China, and China Airlines is from the Republic of China (Taiwan)? One unrelated thing about seeing a CX interior on another airline company's plane. I have seen a SQ interior inside a China Airlines flight. The seats were exactly the same colours, everything was 100% identical.

34C (3 class) - XI XL XM XN XO

34D (2 class) - XA-XH XJ XK

those leased CA bus' were disgusting and the crew hated them as defects were everywhere and in one case, a rat

And I was almost sure that this same poster has claimed to have done 2 or 3 OWE trips, and has complained about problems he has had in Boston ("dead on Christmas") and in Paris ("lost luggage twice") among other adventures.

In other words; "I'm not an experienced traveller-- but I play one on FT!"

"Sometimes I dance around my house in my underwear. It doesn't make me Madonna-- and it never will."

Ca Ching (rim shot!)

You got me there - and as it turns out - they still have a couple in service. BIG miss for me on this one since it seems like I would have seen one at PEK at some point.

If CX leased China Airlines' A340s I wouldn't have minded at all. They are actually quite nice with new flat seats.

But the A340s from Air China are a totally different story. They were the first for the airline way back in late 90s, and basically didn't fit well with the so they were leased out to CX.

B-HXB Nov 7, 2004 8:59 pm

They were only supposed to do the KUL and MEL/ADL runs, but, as those who are familiar with CX's prediliction for swapping aircrafts round at the last moment... that was never gonna happen. And it didn't.

As for the planes themselves... they flew. That's really the nicest thing I can find to say about them.

newcx12345 Nov 7, 2004 9:41 pm

Thanks guys for the clarification.
I seemed the recall when CX first introduced the airbus to SYD they were a bit different in terms of the layout (back when they had the OLD F Class and 2nd generation J Class seats (the ones with the wings just when they introduced IFE). I clearly remember sitting behind the last row of F (= the first row in J) and noted that the pitch was small for the 2nd row in F and that the parition was flimpsy.

I will not be replying to your comments except to say that just because I've being on a few DONE4 and Star RTW, that does not mean I have know EVERYTHING (including the fleet of CI and CA). I did loose my baggage in CDG twice (I got BA Bag Reports on those) and it was LONDON not Boston that I experienced the Christmas day.
I find that both of you jsut seems to have nothing better to do and the quality of your postings are usually low and uninformative.

I repeat : I never claimed I have extensive travel experience. If I do I prob be like GB and have a Diamond MPO, and 10 million other status on other airlines. I am a CX GOLD MPO and that is it. All earned by doing DONE4s and other CX flights! (and before that I had AN Gold because of the partnership with CX)
