it seems that this route uses the 773 (cx711) and 330 (cx715). given my flexible schedule, i was wondering if there's a diff in comfort/experience/etc betw these 2 aircraft types? i'll be flying business. thanks!

Both offer the original regional business class cradle seats with 45" pitch. Adequate for regional flights. However, on the 773, there might be the chance you'll end up with the new regional business class seats. IMO, there are worse than the old cradle seats because the legroom is more limited even with the same pitch due to a restricted 'flap' obstructing the space under the seat in front of you. Best seat for you if you're very tall is maybe the first row.

I am not sure if these were the "original regional business class seats" that GuyBetsy refers to, but I ended up on a two-class 772 on this route last month that had a fairly worn Business cabin and a StudioCX version that was not on-demand. It was the evening flight (CX715 if my memory serves me).

There are numerous differences between the NRBC and the ORBC but basically the easiest way to tell is that the NRBC has electronic seat controls whereas the ORBC is manual.

There are also two A330s fitted with the NRBC but the odds of getting those are lower (2 out of 18, compared with 3 out of 15 for the 773s).

The seats do indeed seem to be the issue.

Last week I had the 11.05 (CX714 from CGK) and this was a 777 2-class with old seats. Only reason for not taking the 777 is that you might end up in the middle seat. So check in early.

They will usually put upgraders in the middle seat. CX overbooks all the time on this route. They get great loadfactors on it and there is quite some competition (even from a LLC).

Two weeks ago I booked a seat for Mrs.Miles on this route in Y for HKD1200 incl taxes, that is only USD 150! No miles though.....

Except, as miles4all points out above, the config is 2-3-2 on the 777/773 and 2-2-2 on the 330.

But otherwise the ORBC seats on the 330 are the same as the ORBC seats on the 777/773, and same for the NRBC seats.

For the ORBC aircraft, I prefer the 330 vs 773 mainly because the 330's seem less worn out than the 773 and the fact that it's a 2-2-2 configuration vs the 2-3-2 (especially on a full J class due to overbooking).

On both aircraft, I find the front/bulkhead seats (rows 11 and 12) have slightly less legroom.

isnt the last flight of the day from SIN to HKG a 744?? the CX716 which goes to SIN as CX713 via BKK
