conection time in JFK to CX

Is 50 minutes enough time to connect from an AA commuter flight to CX JFK--HGK flight?

Thanks

thats pushing it very close

You've got to go from T8/9 to T7, and it really isn't walkable. About the only way to make it is by taking a cab to switch terminals, and even then you'll make it no more than half the time. (Not sure when CX cuts off accepting check-ins, but my guess is 30 mins before the flight time.)

That is definitely NOT a legal connection. At JFK, it's more like 1hour 30 mins given the change between terminals. You would need to take the AirTrain between Terminals 8/9 and Terminal 7.

Even if AA issued you a boarding pass for your CX flight, you would still need to clear security at T7.

Still, it is cutting it close. My last flights had 3.5 hours for connection. I thought I'd have time to shower at the BA lounge. But due to thunderstorms, I was stuck on the plane which parked at the tarmac for over 2 hours before letting all of us out. I literally had only 1/2 hour to make my connection. Which I did, only because due to congestion at JFK, CX was also delayed.

But boy, I really don't want to do that kind of mad rush connection again.

I wouldn't even try it. Not in the Delhi Bazaar that is JFK T7/T8-9. I'd give myself at least 1.5 hours.

thank you for all your input, I am glad that I asked. Now my question is if I take the only other direct flight to JFK I will arrive at 10:45 am--that is an awfully long connection or should I fly into LGA and take a taxi to JKF (if so how much time will I need). I really appreciate all your advice.

I would give myself at least 3 hours if connecting between LGA and JFK. 4 hours if you're in between rush hour traffic.

I would simply stay a night at the FS.

Thank you for your suggestions. I saw by todays flights that my connecting flight was over an hour late arriving into JFK. I have decided to take the AM flight and have 5+ hour lay over. While the FS is a great suggestion I just can't swing it since I am spending all my budget for this project on J class and the Peninsula (which is cutting into my net profit as it is).

Again I really appreciate your help!

Have a night at the Peninsula Suite in JFK. It's pure luxury, having tried it myself. :D
