What's "P" class?
I saw someone carrying luggage under "P" subclass.
I presume it's some sort of employee/industry fares, but surprisingly she had a business class priority tag. (I'm guessing such "free" fares are not eligible for these perks) anybody knows? |
Normally "P" subclass is revenue First Class. But I know on CX, it's used for crew either on deadheads or subclass loads ie travelling in their own time.

DELETED to avoid confusion
|
A few airlines use P for Premium first class. AA uses it for their "real" first class on 3-class domestic flights (on two class flights they call the front cabin "first" but it's really business and their international codeshares sell it that way to avoid a revolt among the natives.) Singapore used to use P for full-fare first, and F for discounted first, but I think when they joined star they went to the more common F/A for full fare/discount.

I never seen an E Class before?? I thought the reason of airlines not using E is to not confuse people.
I know P Class is used by SQ and AF as First Class |
Thanks, it satisfy my curiosity.
But this passenger was travelling on CX. That made me wonder why. |
Is the baggage tag CX issued or from a different airline?
I must say I never came across P Class in CX before. |

I must say I never came across P Class in CX before. Perhaps the pax arrived from US, transit on AA "P" (first) class on 2 class service, and tag issued there. the priority tag could have been attached later at transit in CX port. didn't bother to check the origin though. it's not good practice to stare at someone's lugguage... |

"P" class on CX is BUSINESS CLASS!!
The bag you saw is probably that belonging to a travel agent travelling in Business Class on an AD75/AD50 ticket. (meaning they get either 75% or 50% off their fare)

1. Only front line staff (i.e. Reservations and Ticketing agents) are eligible. Please provide a staff list showing name, title and number of years employed. A photocopy of the agent's Industry ID card is also required. 2. Use your automated systems to obtain your rates. Lowest economy fare allowed is Y2R. For intra-Asia flights only, apply AD75/50 on published Y Class sector fares. 3. At least two weeks prior to travel date: call our Reservations office and make a booking in the applicable subclasses - "E" Class for Economy, and "P" Class for Business (AD75/50 tickets in First class are not permitted). Obtain a record locator for your PNR. Fax your Resolution 880 request for the AD75/50, signed by your Manager to your local Cathay Pacific District Sales office to the attention of your Sales Executive. Include your record locator on your request. |
P class could be 'Price' ticket
