CX889--Deplane in YVR?

Could someone pls tell me how long is the stop in YVR (JFK-YVR-HKG)? Are passengers allowed to deplane?

When I went two months ago, I was not allowed to deplane. The wait was approximately an hour and a half.

I have seen in previous posts in the last 3 years or so that passengers are not allowed to deplane or go to the lounges for showers or do shopping or get food etc.... I think it was a matter or immigration and customs in Canada and that this is in the middle of the night for CX889. I assume the attendant continue service and/or movies are still shown while on the ground as much as they can.

To add to the confusion/annoyance, passengers on the CX 888 are required to deplane in YVR, but are kept in a sterile gate area, meaning no lounge access.

Uh, service and movies? NO! In fact it is chaotic. The YVR cleaning crew comes on to vacuum and straighten up. The J pax on my actually stood on the seats so as not to be hit with the vacuum! It was not exactly what I had imagined. On 888, we not only had to deplane to the sterile holding cell, but we also had to gather everything we'd carried on board to take with us. I mistakenly left some magazines in my seat, and they were gone when I reboarded. That sterile area is atrocious! A couple cases of room-temp water, some hard plastic chairs, restrooms, and payphones. To add to the pain, you can see through the glass walls to the terminal and all the services available ... but not to you!

My experience on these flights have always been:

JFK-YVR-HKG: Required to stay on board aircraft in YVR

HKG-YVR-JFK: Required to get off aircraft in YVR and wait in glassed off gate area. Contrary to the previous poster, I found the gate area very nice. It has always been clean, and has complimentary bottles of water and juice, bathrooms, and plenty of seating. Once, during a delay, they even brought in sandwiches and snacks during the wait.
