Forfeit of Intermediate Segments of ticket allowed with CX?
The title say is all.
This is not round the world ticket. One of the ticket I currently possess have an unwated segments, a side trip within Asia for a longhaul journey. I no longer intend to fly this "side trip", but I still do want to fly back to Vancouver, my original destination. I thought of mileage run, but it's HKG-NRT (Openjaw) CTS - HKG, and it's not possible for same day connection NRT-CTS. If I was to spend $$$ on hotels and domestic, the points/$$$ ratio is simply not worth it anylonger. I don't know but I don't think it can be rerouted to HKG-NRT-HKG, but if possible then it solves my dilenma. So does CX allow intermediate segment of my ticket to be thrown away? I know it works if for last segment, but I'm not sure about my particular instance. |
This is past experience from many years ago. Don't know if it still applies today.
Was doing YYZ-HKG. Since the fare is the same to TPE,BKK,MNL... etc, had YYZ-HKG-xxx-HKG-YYZ issued just in case feeling like taking a side trip. Decided against it and just used coupons 1 and 4. Was told at check-in at HKG when using coupon 4 that I could get refund of fare difference (well, there wasn't any). I think it only worked because the YYZ-xxx fare allowed enroute stopover and there was no HIP. Nowadays, airlines do insist on you having to use all coupons in series, I reckon. |
As long as there is no 'x' beside the next departure point, you can toss the sector. Howevevr if the sector is part of a connection between that and another place via HK, then you have to fly that sector in order for your remaining ticket to be valid.

I agree with GB.
However, if all your reservations are on one PNR then you should probably talk to the reservation office to delete the legs you aren't going to take to avoid the later ones that you do want being cancelled when you no show, IYSWIM. |
