Update: CX lounge at JFK T6

* On track to open 'northern summer' (generally held to be June-July-August)
* Footprint ~930m2 (10,000ft2) with room for close to 200 passengers
* Will feature direct boarding for 'premium passengers'
* Will also have a Bridge-style private area for first class passengers and Cathay Diamonds

Considering CX only has a single flight departing JFK at a given time and no other oneworld airlines sharing T6 (unless EI is coming back, any word on that?), this is very spacious.

Which excludes other oneworld Emeralds?

Thanks for posting this update. I've got a flight end of February and was just looking around for info about this. They've been saying early 2026 but based on no recent updates, I had assumed the opening was being pushed back.

I've got another trip end of May so looks like that one will miss it as well. Oh well.

The terminal move will be a big downgrade in my mind if the dining area does indeed exclude non-Cathay Emeralds. Soho lounge isn't great, but it still offers more substantive food than a standard Cathay J lounge.

Well, look at it this way: if CX flies a 77J to JFK, then (assuming high premium loads) that's 45 business class passengers, plus maybe 50% of premium economy who may hold lounge-worthy status (another 24) and maybe one-third for economy (another 90), which sums to 159. Obviously numbers vary, but also there are guests, so I'd suggest the lounge is sized to suit.

Same access rules as The Bridge, I just included the quote as-is.

The First/Diamond room isn't a dining room per se, it's basically same concept as in place at The Bridge.

I don’t understand the economic rationale for a lounge that will be used for just one flight a day? Unless there is a grander plan.

does CX not have 3 flights a day?

Once the 777X arrives i expect this will become a 4 times a day 777X route?

Thanks for the correction you’re right my mind is clearly not working.

I wonder if they charge other airlines enough to make a buck.

Don't think there are other oneworld carriers moving to JFK T6, though certainly CX can also contract its lounge to non-oneworld carriers, as it does to CI at LHR.
