Manila Cathay lounge closed

Flying out of MNL to HKG today on Cathay Pacific.

i received an email last night from Cathay Pacific saying that the MNL lounge is closed for unforeseen reasons and for the indefinite future, no alternative lounge has capacity and that I’ll receive some Asia Miles as an apology (useless to me as I credit my One World flights to either BA or AT, with both of whom I’m One World Emerald).

not particularly happy!

Heard that the management of NAIA did not renew the contracts of all airline lounges, including CX and SQ. They plan on introducing one big lounge for all airlines' use.

JAL just closed their lounge last week per https://www.jal.co.jp/jp/en/info/2025/inter/251117/. It might be related to what you said. However, the CX lounge closure seems temporary and unexpected and not because of a problem with contract renewal? If CX's lease is not renewed, certainly CX would have known earlier.

Taking a leaf out of BKK's book?

Anyone know if SQ lounge closed too?

This is very bad news and if this is indeed the reason, reflects very poorly on the new operator of NAIA.

CX Corp Comms says this is not the case, apparently the Cathay lounge has been temporarily closed due to a water leakage issue.

Good to know.

Two temporary lounge closures within the space of less than 6 months is rather concerning. Reflects on NAIA, which isn't exactly held in high regard by many.

Which other lounge is temporarily closed?

No other lounge is closed AFAIK. The lounge in MNL was shut temporarily at the end of August 2025. There was a separate thread on that.

Maybe just like what happened a few months ago (https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cath...reopening.html) and it would reopen in a few days?

I have a roundtrip flights to MNL next week. Do you know how many miles will Cathay credit as a compensation for no lounge access? TIA!
