Vantage 2026 is back
Vantage pass sale starts today with DM presale, then GO presale starts on Wednesday, the rest starts on Friday.
As with previous years, if you are based in Hong Kong, under time-constraint and unwilling to do back track (eg. Ex-ICN), it’s not a bad choice. (Edit: Title should be Vantage pass) |
how do the fares work, exactly? is it the same for every combination, are they in buckets (short, medium, long), etc?
|
I find the ticket to be of good value. For example, a combination of SYD and LHR in E class (PE cabin) sells at ~HKD 27000, with a change fee of HKD 1500 and a cancellation fee of ~10000.

No communication re Vantage Pass 2026
Hong Kong based GO member here and have received no email etc directly from CX about 2026 Vantage Pass (it’s now 8pm on 9th). Seems rather last minute - then again that’s probably the plan to spring it on us last minute. ;-)

Not sure why CX would not promote it a day or two earlier. |

go value if you have planned travel. it is around 20-30% saving for PEY?
i had a tough time changing or even downgrade my ticket earlier this year during the LHR fire, while lucky enough to get Op-Up for my 2nd pair ticket Ex-MXP. |
I didnt receive any email regarding this Vantage pass.
Is it only for HK residents or flying out from HK ? |

ex hk fares are captive rObbery. anyone smart enough to nest ex-XXX tickets offer both flexibility and savings over vantage fares. im short product is a blessing if all you know is how to fly ex hk, but anyone with aptitude to position for ex-XXX flights just look away

The value is different for everyone. |
Almost most of the time it's not worth it, unless you can set your plans in stone quite far out.. Good for retirees, kids holidays, etc provided they don't fall within blackout period like CNY..

I managed to secure one dual business trip to US - in Feb and Aug. Luckily my Aug one is for a conference event that can be booked far in advance, else I would not have been able to commit this early. Was 60k HKD for two returns in business which is quite good pricing - back to what I normally paid pre-pandemic on ANA/JAL/AA. Nowadays with no AA presence (well they have DFW but it is always very full and expensive) and Japanese airlines usually very full of domestic demand and tourists to Japan it is hard to find good Transpacific options, especially in OW. I would love if Starlux joined OW which there has been some talk about.
