Cathay Check-in at TPE
 

Hi all, I was wondering whether CX opens its TPE check-in desk all day long for early check-ins. Not an OWE anymore after getting downgraded back to green (:/) so was wondering whether CX would allow passengers with no status to check-in more than 3 hours before departure.

yes can check in anytime after it opens, have done so at TPE city 8hrs prior last year

PS TPE city doesn't provide any status benefits there - don't have a J counter nor provide those priority baggage stickers - so at TPE city you're not missing out on anything

Oh I see! Do you know about the counters at the airport itself then?

Ah sorry, didn't read your post properly, thought you were referring to TPE ITCI - but I'd guess that that wouldn't be a problem

We have a contingent of TPE-based CX FFs here who'd probably have experience at TPE Airport

The CX counters in TPE are open all day.

I've once did a check-in at TPE at around 11ish arriving into TPE on 530, for a departure back to HKG on the 531 departing 8pm that evening. CX has at least one flight every 2-3 hours throughout the day.

Didn't know that TPE had in-town check-in too?

CX used to have it, ceased during the pandemic, then resumed it about two years ago

But given their multitude of flights CX have, it's a worthy value-adding service

Are you doing just TPE-HKG/NRT/NGO/KIX or do you have a connecting flight? Are you checking bags? In the past year or so, TPECX airport counters are very reluctant to check bags if your ex-TPE flight's incoming flight has not departed from HKG, NRT, NGO, or KIX when you have a connecting flight. They would rather make sure your ex-TPE flight is not significantly delayed before checking your bag, or else they will try to reaccommodate you on another flight first. The agent has some discretion, and I suppose the weather plays a role, too. Of course, if you check in at Taipei Station, it is unmanned so you can check your bag as long as you meet the criteria set forth at https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_...l-airport.html

I'm just flying CX531 that evening back to HKG. If that's the case then I may consider dropping my bag at the station instead
