I am looking for 3 award seats in Business from HKG to SFO for June, I have miles from multiple programs inc BA, AA, Cathay miles, all i see is 2 seats per flights. Are these two award seats shared between all carriers or is it possible to get two from one award program e.g and then one from another?

Is that the same for partner awards?
Do Diamond/Gold get more partner awards than nonstatus? Thanks technical explanation, the awards are under control of the airline whose seats they are. It is very easy to set up rules to bias availability - ie if a business class award is ‘worth’ 1500 USD to the RM system, have a rule that it is worth 25% more if the request is coming from a gold member. Set up the floor price for an award to be 1600 USD at that time and lo and behold, only Gold and above will be shown seats… |
@OP - what did you end up doing?
I'm in almost same boat. I'm trying to book HKG to JFK, and I don't have status. Did it last year and found seats after looking for a while. Trying to do that now and it just seems impossible. |
Just like that all J partner award availability is gone for every day within 2 weeks of my previously searched dates which had 2 seats on every flight!
Just as I was about to try and test inventory per partner. |
I have cx silver status but that doesn’t grant any additional seat availability

Sorry for the bump - I'm looking for a J award SYD-HKG. Seatspy is showing availability that I can't find anywhere else. Is this usual?

Thanks - I checked on Cathay and there is availability. They must restrict it. I'm looking to book with Avios!

So is there a fix amount of time in advance when CX releases fares or awards? If I google it says around 320-360 days in advance?

Hi! I just wonder if Asiamiles redemption ticket can be further upgraded by miles at the airport?
I tried to redeem a business class ticket, but it’s only available in economy, so I redeemed it first. I then only realise I cannot waitlist for a business class on the same redemption ticket. I can only “upgrade” when there are seats left. Is there any workaround as well? Thanks! |

Indeed, CX releases first to its program. Usually, when those seats are not taken up in a few days, then they also release to BA program.

Thank you - Y seats are on ba.com. I'll just wait for the J ones and see if I can get that to work. I have an itinerary SYD-LHR through TYO but would prefer to go via HKG. It's for August.
mmm....... you dont need to wait for it , it will be a firm no to BA. |
