Which plane to take?

Hello - I am looking to take business class from New York to Hong Kong. I see my options are an Airbus350 - 900 or a Boeing 777 - 300.

would there be any difference if I take one over the other?

A350 is much more comfortable than 77W in every aspect.

If you search the archives on this thread there is extensive discussion of perceived pros and cons of both.

A350-900 = Newer plane type = better cabin pressurization, newer electronics/IFE, quieter aircraft [applies to all classes]
B777 = Has first class, that unless you're paying for on booking, you are very unlikely to end up in, but it is the only real advantage over the A350 [applies only if flying in business or first class]

Depending on when you are flying, it seems the Cathay Aria (new) business class will come to the B777 before the A350 though, so if you were booking very late in the year, there is the possibility that the B777 will have a better business class seat, but fairly high risk to rely on this.

Most people would therefore choose the A350 given a choice, but the timings can differ, so it isn't going to make a massive difference if you preferred one departure time over another.

The top 3 things CX’s people sitting at pointy end like probably applies to the passengers sitting in the back as well.
1.) A350 is quieter than the B777 at cruise.
2.) A350 is slightly faster at cruise than the B777 (probably makes some difference for a Long Haul)
3.) A350 cabin pressure is closer the sea level than the B777

really dissagree with this - 11A/K on the 77W is quieter and roomier than any other J seat in the system in my opinion. Plus, the oppurtunity to use bookable upgrades, upgrade awards, and rarely (but nonzero) chance of an op up. Even the bulkheads on the 359/K have much smaller footwells plus much more light / noise with the lavatories being right in the cabin instead of in the door/galley areas. The A350 is a wonderful aircraft - CX's chosen layout, however, in terms of lavs and galleys, is a big step backwards.

However, at the end of the day, I wouldn't go out of my way to book either - go with whatever works best with your schedule.

I also agree cabin environment overall in regards to pressurization and humidity is better on the A350. Whenever I fly the 777 I can literally see how dry my skin is 6-7 hours into the flight.

CX A350s for JFK-HKG

Go for the A350-900 if you can keep in mind some of the New York JFK to Hong Kong round trip flights are the larger B-LXx A35Ks one of these is CX844 which go back to Hong Kong at 10:00 a.m. eastern time as CX841. If You booked that one towards Manila Terminal 3 as origin and endpoint your itinerary looks like this CX902 MNL T3-HKG and then CX844 to JFK T8 from HKG return is CX841 JFK T8-HKG and then CX903 HKG-MNL T3.

Love the mini-cabin, except for the F class FOMO it always induces in me...

Two things I like about the 777....The seats are wider and the washrooms are larger.

I find the 350 a tad narrow at the shoulders but I am 6"2 220 pounds....
