CX and PressReader availability
 

Just checked in for my flight on CX. Press Reader is supposed to be available for registered CX members 48 hours prior to flight. There's supposed to be a link in the app that will take you directly to Press Reader unlimited. I can't find the link in the app. Can anyone help?

I miss the Before Times when magazines & daily papers from around the world were freely available in the lounge... I'm a big reader and would spend time reading while waiting for the next hop.
Wishing CX would bring those back.

(And yes, all of those pubs are available on PReader.. but IMHO nothing beats the tactile feel of paper between your thumbs.)

100% agree. Press Reader is a bit of a faff, not to mention I already spend too much time looking at my screen.
Was delighted on my recent trip through The Pier to get an actual paper copy of the Financial Times. They also had the SCMP and another Chinese paper I do not recall. I think this has been the first newspapers I have seen in ANY lounge since the before-times. Hopefully it catches on :)

Diid you manage to find it? I have an upcoming flight so was able to try. I already had the PressReader app installed. From “Manage my Booking”, I selected the upcoming flight. Then scrolled down and clicked on “Complimentary magazines & newspapers” and PressReader launched. There was no need to check in online. Once activated, it seems possible to use the same PressReader account with Cathay access from other devices. It also seems possible simply to launch PressReader with the same account without going back through the Cathay app and the remaining access time will be shown. Access opens up 48 hours before flight departure and length of access from activation is based on tier (7 days for DM).

I have an upcoming flight and usually enjoy Pressreader access but I am having difficulty this time - I'm just wondering if anyone trying to activate Pressreader from their Cathy app is having similar issues? The "FAQ"s don't help.

Alternatively, check if your home/local Library has sponsored (free) access to Press Reader and you can sign in with your Library Card for longer access (i.e. 30 days for some). Once access period ends, sign in again with Library Card number and PIN

Thank you for the suggestion - I will look into getting a library card. I’ve had PressReader fails on my last 3 flights and this would be a great solution.
