Ex-CX lounges
With most CX lounges reopening, I thought it might be useful to have this list off the ones that aren't coming back.
(As Monty Python might put it: "they are no more, they have ceased to be. Bereft of passengers, they rest in peace. They are ex-CX lounges.")
* KUL: well, no loss, and I mean, who ever went here when the much better MH lounge was just around the corner?
* MEL: no loss and not surprise either. Qantas has taken over the lease on this space for the expansion of its MEL international business classdungeon lounge.
* FRA: also nope. FRA is an airport which could perhaps use a Oneworld-branded lounge.
CDG is an interesting one. I'm told it will be coming back after terminal renovations are complete but there appears to be something else going on there, and far as I know that's not a conversion to a Oneworld-branded lounge.

I was just through HKG, reminiscing the Bridge and the Cabin, the spaces of which both seem to still be empty. Did there just used to be much more lounge capacity back then? Or was Pier J, when opened, somehow enlarged quite a bit to accommodate more J pax?

It's a shame Cathay didn't open a mini-lounge at the T1 North Satellite / Skybridge concourse, even if it was more aligned with short stays and a bit more 'grab and go' like the Air Canada cafes and United's newest model eg plonk yourself down at The Wing initially, and then relocate to this smaller lounge when your flight is closer to boarding, of it you tend to minimise lounge time (as many frequent flyers do) then head straight to this smaller lounge as your pit-stop. But the airline says it's reducing flights from the T1 North Satellite, and one supposes that when T2 reopens in late 2025 / early 2025 this will free up more gates at the main T1 for CX, so any capex on this 'North Satellite lounge' would be short-term and arguably short-sighted.

It looks like North satellite and midfield will be for HK express.
and the main terminal 1 for CX and OW.
Arguably the best terminal to base the entire operations on.
I miss the Cabin and the Bridge.
I liked it when CX lounges had 4 different styles rather than all the same.
You could move around to suit your mood or tastes.

With regards to CDG, the airport has been playing musical chairs for a while with several airlines being moved back and sometimes forth across terminals as heavy work takes place in one bit of the airport at a time. I suspect that CX and a few others are probably in discussion with each other and with AdP on final location and I suspect that there will be some more permanent plans finalised within 6-12 months (no inside knowledge). Personally, I would have thought it would have been an even better case than FRA for a proper OW lounge but i suspect difficulties relate to OW partners themselves: QR invested a lot in T1 which would be a disaster for anyone relying on AF feeder traffic (pretty much every other long haul partner), and JL and AY have strong and long standing agreements with AF. This sort of leaves CX, AA, BA, and RJ in the middle (IB and AY are Schengen anyway so have a different situation anyway at both CDG and FRA) as well as WY and EI when and if they join.

Yes and no. The KHH lounge started as a CX lounge and became a KA lounge when KA took over the route in 1996 (based on what I think to be the case, though I am not sure if it was a seamless cut-over). It then became a "Cathay Pacific" lounge when the "Dragonair" brand became "Cathay Dragon." The KUL lounge had always been a CX lounge (just like PEN). Simply, KA gradually took over the route in 2017 without any lounge name change.
Besides The Deck (which was KA lounge --> G16 Lounge), the KHH lounge was the only other KA lounge after the CX-KA merger. KA also had its own lounge at PVG, but it was soon renamed "Dragonair and Cathay Pacific" lounge after the merger.

Here is the information on CX website:
https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_...e-airport.html
As a ticketed J pax, you should be able to use the QR Premium lounge, which is magnificent.
STatus Y pax can use the Extime lounge which is OK.

You seem the nervous time and your research is a bit lacking, both on T2D-T1 transfer (another thread) and lounges.
