Cathay unable to rebook a canceled connecting codeshare flight
Hi,
I have ran into an issue where my connecting flight in the future has been rebooked to an impossible connection. I was originally on June 5 CX888 Hong Kong to Vancouver June 5, CX7032 Vancouver to Calgary. (this flight was canceled) June 4, CX7030 Vancouver to Calgary (rebooked flight which is impossible to make) I have spoke with two Cathay agents and they said they can not rebook me on another codeshare flight Vancouver to Calgary as there is no available space on there system but I can see they are still selling flights with many connections. One agent even suggested me to buy my own connection which I think is unacceptable. Any one have suggestions or run into the similar issue? Thanks |
IS that an award ticket?

Have you tried asking to move to Jun 4 or 6's CX810?
Frankly, unless you purposely want to do an overnight stay/transit in YVR, CX888 is such a bad option to start with. |

Codeshares cannot be booked on their own. They have to be booked as part of the long haul however if the codeshare isn't available, then agents have to book the flights as AC as CX/AC have a joint fare agreement.
Honestly that is what I did when I was a TA. But nowadays, people think that they know better. The GDS simply will not allow a codeshared flight to be book independently if not connected (married) to the long haul sector. |
I can share a recent experience.
1. Booked HKG-FRA-BUD using an OTA. First leg CX, second leg CX codeshare on Lufthansa 2. Lufthansa cancelled FRA-BUD but had later CX codeshares available. I was offered no alternatives, just told 'cancelled' 3. Contacted OTA and they said they tried hard to get an alternative then offered money back or take first leg and buy second leg as an extra 4. Tried Lufthansa, completely and utterly useless 5. Finally called CX and within 5 minutes had a later flight (LH code) all sorted out no problem Jo Lei Ho Wan |
Nicc HK any status with CX?
Not sure why you took OTA to start off with but wondering why CX took over the ticket without pushback. |

Not sure why you took OTA to start off with but wondering why CX took over the ticket without pushback. I was happily surprised too. I explained the situation including the OTA unable to assist and Lufthansa unwilling to assist, and the issue was then dealt with quickly and no fuss. Has made me put some more business CX way since. |
