Not hard for them to manage when theres only so many people in each cabin now a days

I know there's no current F flights as of right now, but notice how they didn't bother saying "business and first class", and just the former

Is it similar to SQ’s Book the Cook with additional menus or is it just selecting item from regular menu in advance?

I think it is just preselection from the menu.

It has been around for a few months now, and saw on last few flights.

At this time, some items are exclusive to pre-selecting. One example is on long-haul, there might be 2 choices of burgers, beef and turkey, available for pre-selecting, but only one available on board for pax who didn't pre-select.

On some inbound flights meals have been loaded at exact numbers +/- small margin, so it to be used accordingly.

Can I per-select lobster thermidor as my dinner choice? That is the question.

Wrong airline wrong class.

May I introduce you to AA's famous lobster grilled cheese and sandwich - I missed CX burger when I had it. Ingredient / dish name and execution often have differentials in between, sometimes inverse correlation, in airline catering when budget is tight.

Already did before asking. It only says you can view and choose your inflight meal option.
Where does it say the online menu is the same as onboard menu?

Am I correct in assuming that it is the same as the inflight menu, just that you are then more likely to get your first choice?

I flew HKG-CDG this past week and yes the menu was the same.

I flied to SYD, and pre-select meals got more choices than inflight menu.
I guess it was related to the routes.
Anyway, no hurt to do online pre-select meal.

I don't fly CX often and didn't realize this was a problem? I booked a flight in October and out of habit just pre-selected my meals. And yes it's a full selection (muslim, vegetarian, fruit, diabetic, etc.). To be honest I was impressed by the number of selections available.

PaulC852 Sep 22, 2023 7:48 am

That's not the same thing. "Special" meals have always been available from quite a long list. What this thread is about is being able to pre-select from a list of "normal" meals which may (or may not) have more choices available than the choice you would have in-flight.
