ET: Cathay Pacific, HK Express begin Cathay Dragon route carve-up

The gist boils down to this: "According to Hong Kong's Apple Daily, Cathay Pacific has applied for around 25 former Cathay Dragon routes with a heavy emphasis on the larger cities in China: the list is said to include Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Taipei, Penang, Tokyo and Kolkata. The South China Morning Post has previously reported that Hanoi, Fukuoka and Kaohsiung will also come under Cathay's wing."

Good to see CX taking over PEN. Does this suggest they will take over HKT as well? Both are similar beach-oriented destinations with decent J demand, at least in pre-Covid times.

Well PEN does have quite a bit of industry and tech down there. So it's not purely a leisure destination. HKT might be much more leisure oriented.

I was expecting HKT to go to UO, especially they already operate there but checking CX website, it seems HKT is put back onto schedule from 31 October operated by CX. Though a lot can change until then, does that mean the slots are officially given back to CX? So they'll keep dual CX/UO operations there?

CNX on the other hand is not loaded and I expect to go to UO. That one would be very surprising if it goes to CX.

FUK is loaded to CX and Asiamiles, can be redeemed but cannot book by cash. Strange.

I wonder how long the process takes for allocation of the original KA flights to CX.
I am sweating on flying from CTU to Australia later in the year and , at the moment, all the services to HKG are on Air China so no Oneworld alternative.
Some allocations have come thru pretty quickly eg to KUL but no signs yet of CTU-HKG.

You mean CA? CA and CX do code-share on the CTU-HKG route.
