September cancellations

CX post the July/August program on its website. But not September or after.

I had a flight CDG-HKG early September as CDG flights were supposed to resume. They just cancelled CDG and won't resume before October.
Probably only AMS, FRA and LHR in September.
As AF cancelled its flights due to the crew testing imposition, there are no nonstop alternatives and very few one-stops.

According to https://www.routesonline.com/news/38...as-of-29jul20/ CDG will be twice weekly...

Sept schedule for YYZ HKG is live.
I have Sept 18 cancelled and moved to 17th, another choice is 20th. Looks like daily Sept schedule is back to 3X/wk.

Indeed, now shows 2 weekly on A359.
My flight was cancelled, was showing 77W and I think was six weekly until the change two days ago.

RGN has been closed to intl’ commercial flights since April. Restrictions will likely get extended into late Q4.

LAX - HKG 12:30pm

My Sep. 17 22:50 HKG to TPE flight has been cancelled and I've been moved to an earlier flight. My Sep. 16 12:30 LAX to HKG flight is still shown confirmed. However, when I did a dummy LAX - TPE booking for Sep. 16, this flight (CX 885) was no longer available. CX 885 was still shown as an option one week ago. I believe that CX 885 will get cancelled eventually. I hope CX will inform us sooner rather than later so that we could make our adjustments for our trips.

Cheers,
Chan

My CX494 on 19Sep’s been axed.

This was redeemed on Avios so I couldn’t refund earlier under AM rules but since the flight number’s been axed I’d push BAEC for full refund notwithstanding rebooking.

CX 885 officially cancelled

I received an email from CX this morning, confirming that CX 885 was cancelled and I was re-booked on CX881.

Surprised to see Manchester get 3x weekly. I have a flight booked for KUL via HKG in December which obviously I won't be allowed to do given entry requirements so had hoped for the easy route of a cancellation of the MAN flight but I guess that's not looking as likely now.

One advantage of UK is that anyone can enter/transfer there freely, except for possible quarantine. Hence UK tends to have customers flying into Europe.

Also Malaysia is doing quite well currently for Covid. They might relax entry further (Second Home are now allowed).

Under COVID:
- If you have to transit then the more open the place is the better.
- If you have to live there you'd feel differently.

Yes, amazing UK still allows this!

The "quarantine" too is a joke in the UK - its based on the honor system, and you're welcome to use public transport from the airport and indeed even go out and do some food shopping during the "quarantine" period!

Another half cocked attempt by the useless British idiots in power. Cant seem to do anything correctly.

Besidees dismal levels, CX announced that it will cut back its September schedule to July level.
That is 7% capacity and probably 1 -2% traffic given the load.

CDG which was supposed to restart in Sepember is now cancelled.

I am also booked on CX219 from Hong Kong to MAN on 17/9. Apparently it was alright up until yesterday and when I check it again today the reservation has been closed and no longer accept new booking into MAN for the whole September. I really want to know will be cancel or not since I am so lucky to redeem a award seat on CX219. Just don’t want CX cancel whole month service to Manchester otherwise it will be nightmare to me since it will be very difficult to find another award seat on CX in September.

I might be a little OT, Cathay cancelled my late august flight to London today, and they reallocated my award upgrade ticket to the nearest flight to London right away and I was told would be given the option to choose from a range of dates if I am not on an award upgrade tixs.(should be for those with full cash paid or full miles redemption?)
Best guess is that they will finalise it within 2 days (which is the duration it took in my cx255 case). Good luck to your MAN flight. I think they are just fiddle and faddling he schedules and perhaps combining the flights into 1x or 2x flights instead of 3x

Hi...may I know when was your original flight? Just as a matter of interest as according to CX official flight schedule, there will be CX251 operating to LHR daily from 22 Aug to 31 Aug, so I wonder whether their schedule is actually not updated.

My original flight is cx255 departing on 29 AUG. The official timetable on the Cathay website has around a 1-2 day delay in my experience, expert flyer timetable is updated a bit quicker compared to Cathay's.

Indeed, the timetable is often updated very late.
I find the most reliable tool on many destinations (not the repatriation flights), is to see if CX is selling tickets

ronin98syu Aug 18, 2020 1:53 am

I believe that CX 881 (LAX - HKG) on 15/09 and 16/09 would be cancelled. Just did a dummy check, and the flight for these two days were no longer available. They were still available yesterday.

Anybody have any insight on SFO route. I see some flights scheduled all over the place, can't seem to make out a pattern.
Looking to hop on a SFO-bound flight early Sept.
