CX ranks badly in redemption availability

Good article on just how horrible redemptions have become...cx ranks near the bottom

I'm surprised that SQ has 70% availability??

Oneworld airlines are all at the bottom.

Previous Ideaworks survey only focused on Economy right?

(Noticed UA forum also having similar discussion on the same piece https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unit...wards-wsj.html )

Also Ideaworks is looking for "two seats together at the lowest published mileage level" <-- that's clearly not where I live post-22 June 2018.

If not, I would not have to go thru this this morning:

One thing to note for CX in this survey: only route longer than 2500miles and J class or above are chosen.
That’s why CX ranked so low. A lot of CX’s redemption availability are on short haul, eg. TPE and NRT, while long haul availability are mostly on Y/PEY.

SQ’s been pretty decent actually- both regional and longhaul. A combination of the ability to generate Krisflyer miles @S$0.0143, and no fuel surcharges has meant that I’ve been redeeming a lot for the family on SQ of late. Regional isn’t a direct comparison, but destinations like SFO, where family have never minded an HKG transit, now almost always happen on SQ (usually nonstop, occasionally via HKG).

But I believe suite class is not available for redemption?

certain long haul new suite class not available for saver redemption. But available for advantage award.

Suite to HKG/PVG/DEL/SYD/PEK are available. You can also find suite to London for the old suite though.

These results are consistent with my general experience. AS is great. SQ is very good. CX is bad. UA is worse.

I just flew IB MAD<->ZRH award J in last Nov. too

Study does not match my experience.

SQ long hual 2 F/J available? Good luck with that. Maybe some specific routes.
Alaska product is not even in the same league as the other airlines on the list.
2 F/J American seats being more available than CX? Don't think so.

The methodology of this survey is so flawed that its results/conclusions are total nonsense.
Rubbish in = Rubbish out
