HKG check in time in J
 

I will be traveling in J tomorrow from HKG on the 1.10am flight to heathrow. Just wondering if I am only allowed to check in 3 hours before my flight or can I bag drop say even at 6 PM and enter the depature halls if I travel in J ? Just wanted to see what time I want to head to the airport.

For CX flights u can check in 24 hours before the flight ex hkg

You can check in your bags at HK/Kowloon stations, assuming you're taking the AE. As to departures and passing security, it's 24 hours before your flight.

You can drop the bag the previous evening, no problem. I am not sure if they will let you go through airside security the evening before (if from transit, yes, but not sure if you are from landside), but certainly the morning of your flight, if your aim is to go to the lounges. Note that the CX and QF lounges do not generally operate overnight. If you plan to take airport express to the airport, you can also check your bag at Hong Kong or Kowloon station, on the day or the day before.

RE: HKG Security

I always prefer to pass security late night for early morning flights (up until 10 am). The only thing I notice is when you go through the automated gate thing where you scan Passport (no idea what it's called), there's a "pause" requiring a manual override, which I've always gotten sans questions.

Not sure if it's still there, but the PP lounges were all 24 hours which bridge the gap nicely from the time the CX ones are closed. For the PPs, I prefer the one on mezzanine near the Amex Cent and find it very comforting with so little people and endless supplies of that Watson tonic water.

The OP stated that he has a 1.10am flight. OP can enter security/immigration many, may hours before the flight.

Thanks for the reply - it will not be through the airport express. It will be a bag drop direct in the airport as I have already checked in on the app. From my understanding, one is only allowed to bag drop/ go through the security into the departure lounge 3 hours before the flight departs - or am I mistaken ?

The policy is 24 hours. Additionally, airport security will only allow you to enter the airport control area 24 hours before departure time.

You are mistaken. You can check in all day for your evening departure.

No, not that I'm aware. These days, Priority Pass memberships have become so common, I just assumed that everyone has one.
