Cx260 diverted
 

For those interested i just heard Cx260 from CDG to HKG (dec 23 flight) was diverted to TSE (Kazakhstan). Apparently a medical emergency then the plane broke down? Replacement flight is schedule for 1225am to arrive HKG on dec 25 at 950am...

The flight arrived on 25th December at 05:23. Basically one day late.

Yikes. Were passengers given hotel rooms during the delay? Were visas an issue?

Talking to a friend who was on the flight apparently there was someone who was pregnant who said that their water broke so pilot decided to divert. They were given a hotel and i heard that there were some who were not allowed out of the airport sue to visa issues

Wow...your child becoming a Kazakhstani national by accident. I wonder if the birth was premature - CX is meant to reject pregnant women for travel if they are 36 weeks in.

Especially if there are problems or the kid is premature, it would surely be better to give birth in Paris or Hong Kong.

I guess the medical aspect is semi interesting. Probably best to land somewhere that can try and stave off labour with nifedipine and get some betamethasone into the mother to help the kids lungs, rather than continuing and having an inevitable premature delivery. Can always get a medical plane out to take mum somewhere more suitable once she’s stabilised

(I assume none of that would be available on board? I don’t have a copy of the list for Hong Kong but from the EU and Singapore lists it seems unlikely although slightly possible they may have injectable salbutamol which would do the trick, possibly. The injectable corticosteroid referenced I imagine is most likely there for anaphylaxis so probably more a hydrocortisone)

Also, even Kazakhstan applied jus soli in nationality law, the child must be born within the Kazakhstani airspace in order to qualify.

Based on a quick research, there is no report of birth yet.

So I would say the baby has not yet born.

Correct that no report of birth yet, but I doubt it will ever be reported. Media would not follow up.

It does not.

Oriental is doing this to trash CX's reputation. But since this is not really an incident that caused by CX, trashing CX may result unexpected troubles.

It is up to you what you want to believe. Still I would say Oriental is more plausible as I rarely see a Hong Kong resident thanking the "Party".

Not only CX but I recall in the US, immigration may/will deny entry and send you back overseas from a few instances I recall...
