Connecting from ferry to CX
Hi- apologies for this random question. I had a search and couldn’t find an answer. question is- arrriving on a ferry an hour ahead of a CX departure (have a flexible tix for later flight that day) could I just rock up at the gate say 45 mins or more before departure and ask them to change to the earlier flight (assuming there is space available )? or do I need to get the change made (if time permits) in a lounge? Very tight I know, but worth a try, no bags or anything. |
Excellent question... my personal opinion, assuming seats in your class are available:
Just try not to take advantage, you know? Not that you are I mean, just to keep in mind... Good luck! Let us know what works! -闵魁偲 |
Sorry to not really add anything, but as a lament on the decline of CX and MPC for this this sort of request

I did this a couple weeks ago and had no problem. I had I think 2 hours and 5 minutes between ferry departure time from Macau to my flight take off time, which was the exact minimum allowed. I made it with enough time to go to the lounge first. |
Thanks for the responses. I will have a go and see what happens. FWIW, am no longer a DM, but still hold OWE with another. |

Would CX allow me to check my bag all the way to SYD from LHR even though the layover exceeds 24 hours? |

I'm 99% sure you'd need to pick it up at HKG... I don't think they have a way to override it. It's an intentional limitation related to HK airport taxes (which you should be required pay)

By minimum allowed, is that to say that CX will protect you if your miss your flight because of a delayed ferry? I'll be visiting Macau later this spring (assuming that the ferries are up and running again). My original flight was cancelled, meaning I can either pick one that leaves 2 h 5 min after the last ferry from the Macau is timetabled to arrive at HKG, or wait eight hours for the last flight.

Would CX allow me to check my bag all the way to SYD from LHR even though the layover exceeds 24 hours? given the current uncertainty, i suggest waiting a bit to refine your plans as situation, restrictions and operating flights can change quickly. |
