Cannot Waitlist F Redemption???
 

I am ticketed J on a HKG-BOS flight, and wanted to waitlist F.

However, the website will not allow waitlist on an F redemption. It pushes you into a business class seat.

It says "Business class is suggested", but it is really REQUIRED. If you choose this, it assigns you a standard business class seat, and you cannot modify the class. It does this even if you choose CHOICE instead of STANDARD (F).

The back of the plane is really full, but the front is not. For these that like the numbers, it is showing: F5 A5 J9 C6 D6 I4 W2 R0 E0 Y0 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0

I can understand if they don't want to release the seats. But why not let you waitlist?

I have noticed that sometimes over the past week it has shown the "Completely Booked", greyed-out box instead of the waitlist box.

FWIW, you cannot book J Standard or Choice, they are both waitlisting.

A post 622-devaluation thing - not all flights/cabins will be waitlist-able now as was the norm in the past.

Did you try calling in to MPC to see if they can waitlist you?
