Vintage Champagne in F

April's Discovery in-flight magazine highlights the following:

"This month, Cathay Pacific is introducing a rotating programme of the finest vintage champagnes for its First Class passengers, starting with the premium Krug 2004. In addition to the vintage Krug 2004, the selection includes the 20065 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne, the 2007 William Deutz Cuvee and the 2002 Piper Heidsieck Rare. This month, the Krug 2004 will be featured on routes to Boston, Paris, Frankfurt, New York, London Heathrow, Chicago and Vancouver with additional routes to follow later in the year."

Based on the wording, looks like it may only be ex-HKG, but uncertain at this point.

Wow, interesting indeed. This is probably in response to SQ with their Krug vintage offerings in F.

I'm almost certain I recently had Krug 2004 on SQ? But I'm also pretty sure I drank William Deutz Cuvee 2007 on JAL F recently too (they were serving that along with Roederer Cristal 2009). So who knows.

I'm all for CX bumping their wine budget.

Of course any improvement is welcome, but this is a bit of lipstick on a pig that just gets travel blog column inches. How about improving the basics?

As per CX internal communication, this will replace the existing offerings (not complement) and eventually will be rolled out network-wide later in the year.

Nice. Now just patiently awaiting for someone to fly on a non ex-HKG flight...

Fingers crossed for my flight out of JFK later this month.
