Waitlist chances?
 

Hi there!

I booked a flight via AsiaMiles (SFO>HKG>MLE) and upon booking was told I'm waitlisted for the flight. From talking to a Cathay Pacific representative, I understand this means they're waiting for more people to book the route before confirming the flight. The confirmation page also says the following: "Our records indicate that you have not issued a ticket for this booking. Please contact Asia Miles Service Hotline to issue the ticket before 06:00, 10 Apr (SFO time). Otherwise your booking will be invalid and will automatically be cancelled without further notice."

Anyone have experience with this? I'm wondering what the likelihood is that I'll get the flight, and whether there's anything I can do but wait?

Thanks, appreciate any advice or explanation of what usually happens in cases like this!

Itinerary is:
20 Apr 2018, Fri CX873 SFO > HKG
21 Apr 2018, Sat CX601 HKG > MLE
28 Apr 2018, Sat CX602 MLE > HKG
30 Apr 2018, Mon CX872 HKG > SFO

A waitlist is rather self-explanatory - you're not able to confirm the flights because CX hasn't made the award seats you want available. Nothing out of the blue.

All your flights seem to be rather light. Of course whether your waitlists clear depends on the class of travel you're looking for, and your FFP status.

I'm looking to upgrade my flights booked through the great deal above. Expert Flyer doesn't show upgrade availability, so I'm looking using both ba.com and qantas.com. According to those sites there is a single first class award available on March 12 - yet via experflyer I see there are 4 first class seats available. I'm not flying until August - if I upgrade one ticket to first class, what are the odds that more inventory will be released before then? What is their schedule for releasing upgrade inventory?

Hi everyone..im new here. Can someone help to check on the following flight from Kansai Osaka to Taipei as im still on waitlist since 2 weeks ago.
