CX524 Menu Options?
 
Does anyone have any ideas/images of what the menu is on this flight in economy? 1:05am-6:15am HKG-NRT. Trying to decide whether to eat in the airport first or wait for the flight. Also does anyone have any reviews on what seats in row 78 are like? Space, recline etc as I have chosen 78K on the Boeing 777-300 (73Z) New Regional.

Depwending on your schedule on the day you arrive tokyo, i may decide to eat in town, take one of the last bus/train to the airport and sleep asap.

if you get to sleep for extended hours upon arrival that may be different. But usually hotels in japan do not like giving out rooms before 2pm.

CX 777-300 seats doesn’t decline backwards, instead the seat slides forward to create the reclined angled position. So seating in the last row doesn’t really matter.

CX524 is catered as a supper service. Seating in row 78 I suspect they could run out of choice so I would just eat in town/airport and go straight to sleep

I'm coming straight in from the ferry terminal and then going straight to the airport... I'll probably grab something to eat in the airport as I didn't like the sound of some of the menu's I found online. Hopefully I get to sleep on the plane anyway with it being overnight

That's probably going to end up being my plan. So if it the seat slides forward does that decrease the leg room?

The meal of CX524 is snack box, including a small sandwich, a piece of biscuit, a muffin, fruit salad and a carton of lemon tea

I thought CX524 is catered as midnight refreshments in Y - snacks box only (of a sandwich, muffin, biscuit, fruit and packed drink of some sort); unless things might have changed very recently. On that account, always eat at the airport first.

Drinks are available upon request so you may ask for some hot tea etc.

Yes.
Upside is no one except yourself can invade your space. Downside is the seat feels quite hard. Do move around the headrest to regain slight comfort.

i prefer to eat ahead of the flight to maximise sleep time onboard. my experience with this flight usually goes like this...

1. (tired) trying to stay awake for boarding after a long day of work, eat ahead if need to
2. go onboard and try to catch as much zzz as possible, you are not missing much in terms of food if you are in economy, basically go into DND mode
3. (still tired) deplane and go through the 1 hour long immi/luggage process
4. get on a train/bus and nap another hour enroute to the city; prefer train because it's more stable and comfy for napping
5. (not energised, will live) arrive with the maximum rest possible

I only took this flight yesterday. It's hell on earth

Do not expect a meal on this flight- it is simply a snack box, as mentioned by previous posts, consisting of - a stale ham & cheese roll, a mini fruit box, a macadamia short bread and a muffin. Plus a carton of the sweetest hk style lemon tea - which is disgusting.

Unless you're a seriously deep sleeper, don't expect to catch much sleep - this flight is FULL OF TOUR GROUPS and last night, those holiday makers just would not shut up. I could still hear them wearing my Bose QC35.

And finally if I were you, I wouldn't select seats as far as row 78. This flight uses a very dense config regional 777-300. You'll be the 400th person to deplane. And 0600-0700 is peak arrivals hour at Narita, you will be waiting for immigration for a very long time.

For me - never CX524 again... in fact, never CX between HK and Tokyo again. JL operates with much more comfortable planes and their seats & catering are actually nice.

I’m on this flight tonight (well early Friday morning) and I looked to see if I could change the seat and it was mostly full by the time I did my check in yesterday Do they never use the back of the plane for disembarking? I'm flying back JAL

1) JAL is good for the service but their options are insanely limited. you're looking at arriving Tokyo Station no earlier than 5pm for the NRT flight. and some time around 10pm for the HND flight. for many people it simply would not work (if you also need the flexibility of leaving 6 flights/day).
2) if you need to be in HKG at 1800 and japan the next morning, this and the KIX red eye flight are the only option using oneworld miles. (well there's still the via BKK option)
3) There is a japanese alternative, using ANA.
4) they never use the back for disembarking.

sorry I should’ve been more clear I’ve got a week in Tokyo flying back on the 16th. Currently CX524 is already delayed due to no catering service getting on board. They revised departure time to 1:30 but I imagine it’ll be at least 2am before we leave now

This flight gets delayed a lot because it's scheduled for 1:05 AM (probably to secure the slot in HKG) but that means that the actual average flight time of 3.5 hours (vs. the block time of 4) has it arriving in NRT at 5:30 AM which is within the 12-6am landing curfew. It almost always gets 'delayed' to 1:30 ~ 2:00 AM departure based on recent data and still arrives just after the 6am curfew ends. Which (as I've stated before) is another reason I avoid this flight.

i dont dispute you as i still do not like this flight so much, but im saying there are times this flight is the least hateful flight. (this flight is the only option to send you to ishigaki on the same day, say - or the KIX option that is even worse in every aspect)
