ABC jerk
 

I want to share a story which got me mad at the CX lounge last week, to show what people in customer service have to put up with:

I was using the computer at the TPE mini-Wing, when I overheard a 30-something year old guy's telephone conversation with the MPC hotline:

- I am calling to check on the status of an upgrade from HKG to JFK on .... What? Still not come through? Can you check for other connections? Well through LAX for example...Also nothing....SFO would be fine. No I am not going to fly SFO-JFK in economy, that won't do ... well don't just say you are sorry, *****, find me another connection ... put your supervisor on, I need to speak to your supervisor ... I am a Silver member, it's impossible you don't have a seat... I am sure you can find me a seat, you just don't want to, *****.

And so on. Extremely rude all the way, and insulting.

I always try to be polite with customer service staff, because the job they have is really not easy. There are just too many arrogant jerks in this world.

And he's only a SILVER member....

And even if he were a Diamond or Platinum or Emerald or Moonrock member, his behavior is still not OK. But what does being ABC have anything to do with his rudeness? He's a jerk, period.

What's ABC??

Err.., it's only that HE is a jerk. Don't generalize for all America Borned Chinese. Also, you would offend quite a few by calling "ABC" so I would advise you to watch out.

Yeah... he could be a CBC, or an OzBC.

Or MSNBC

My comments were meant to be general, but sorry for giving you the wrong idea. I do acknowledge it's a commonly used term (including those by OP), but I got into mess with few people in the past.. just my 2 cents...

I hope he didn't get his upgrade on any sector. What a wannka!

I agree that MPO members need to show some maturity and politeness when dealing with those lovely customer service executives at Marco Polo Club/Asia Miles Service Centre. They are a great people to deal with.

I actually had a paragraph in the original post explaining that the person was probably from Hong Kong (saw his passport ) but had a markedly Australian accent. I took out that paragraph as I found it to be irrelevant, but couldn't change the wrong subject line. Sorry.
