Forthcoming flight on CX839
I am very happy to be flying CX J class again after a longish break - CX839 YVR-HKG on 2 Feb, followed by CX155 HKG-MEL (via ADL). I first flew CX J class from MEL to HKG several years ago and was overjoyed by the quality of the service.
My last CX flight was in 2002 HKG-MEL in NBC. In terms of the service and amenities in J class on CX839, have things changed much? I have read that SARS made some changes - no hot towels and no meals "off the trolley" - but has this changed now that SARS has passed? Plastic cutlery? Is that vulgarity still foisted on hapless travellers? Thanks in advance. I am excited about having the opportunity to travel on CX again. |
CX's J class remains as good as ever.
Hot towels service have returned for a while, but plastic cultery is still used and the "meals" off trolley service is still suspended. Meals are reverted to the old casserole dishes for main courses. Enjoy CX J! Carfield |
Thanks Carfield - much appreciated.
I am not sure whether I know what the "old casserole dishes" are. Are these ceramic dishes holding an individual meal? Or larger dishes from which the cabin crew serve on their way around the cabin? |
I think CX switched to silver cutlery now, at least on my last flight CX 881 in December.

Don't know if it's a cost cutting measure or for post-SARS safety issues. |
