Knives are back :-)))
I'm surprised no-one has mentioned this in the last few days, but I was delighted on my HKG-KIX flight last Thursday in F to be presented with the real metal knives again http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
The cabin crew said that they were in the process of being reintroduced for all routes except UK and N America. Reason prevails at last! |
Terrific news!
Although it would be nice if it was a full system-wide reintroduction, at least I won't have to put up with a heavy fork and a light knife on my non-UK sectors. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif [This message has been edited by B-HXB (edited 11-03-2003).] |
the HKG-SFO flight has metal knives again, also.
|
I do not understand what sectors are chosen. I see metal knives on CX erratically. Is there some URL that lists the sectors where they are allowed again?

it is hard to imagine why some idiot would cook up the idea of banning knife.......we know we will all fight the terrorists if if they r only equipped with blunt knife, well, after 9-11, we will fight even if they have guns |

Metal knifes HKG - LAX on the 880, 30/10
Plastic knives on all my regional flights SIN - HKG - ICN - HKG - BKK - HKG before that. Premium routes first I suppose. |
What was the delay in reintroducing metal knives? H.K. aviation rules? FWIW, QF and AS has metal knives in July.

I agree that passengers will most likely put up a fight with potential hijackers. But even if they don't, it can never happen again that hijackers commandeer a commercial airplane because the reinforced cockpit doors will deny them access to the plane's controls. Moreover, pilots are now instructed not to cooperate with hijackers regardless of what they do in the passenger cabin (unlike pre-9/11 when their instruction was to cooperate and let ground law enforcement authorities deal with the hijackers).
So now here's what we've got: the flying public pays an enormous amount of fees so that the government can hire hundreds of thousands of TSA screeners who utilize practices that are both gestapo-like AND laughable if not inane (removing shoes). And to top it all... the screening for potential weapons does not even work! When will somebody inject some common sense to TSA? |
