Is CX going to Fly Non-Stop to JFK?

I was checking schedules on CX's HK site for flying to NY in January and it looked like they were going to start flying non-stop to JFK(i.e. no Vancouver stop)?
Can anyone confirm?

That'd be nice. I'm soon to be in YVR. Sort of....

HKG-JFK non-stop showed up on CX's Draft Schedule (2003 Winter), but since there's no announcement, I guess it will not go ahead.

Today it was reported by Bloomberg that CX is seeking permission to fly from LHR to JFK and YVR on through flights originating in HKG. Maybe this has something to do with it?

There was a thread about a CX RTW flight rumour a few weeks back. My take: CX will get the U.K.'s permission for LHR-JFK with 5th freedom* rights when hell freezes over.

*-though I always considered CX to be virtualy a U.K. airline.
