hot towels are back!!

Just took a flight HKG-JNB and had hot towels. Talked to the FAs and they told me that effective August 1st, all F and J class would be stocked back with hot towels... finally no more antiseptic wipes! =)

Also, pre-departure canapes are back in F..

good to hear things are slowly getting back to normal at CX! I am flying J class next month from NRT to HKG.

Just flew CX J class from LHR to HKG and good to see that a la carte style meal service is back in Business Class.

CX - A fantastic way to fly! I love it!

Excellent news. I figured that once SQ brought the towels back, CX would follow.

Brilliant news about the towels... but I actually liked those cashew nuts CX were serving in lieu of the canapes. Ah, well. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I flew LHR-HKG this week in Business and they were giving out different kinds of amenity packs to different passengers which I had never seen before. I knew that there were male / female packs but these were different packs to people of the same gender.

Were they both Biotherm kits? If so, perhaps they're in the process of depleting old stocks before switching to new ones.

In June, I flew CX J HKG-YVR and was given a Biotherm kit that was rectangular. I also noticed the female version was in 2 modular smaller pouches that were velcroed together.

I flew back in July LAX-HKG and the male kit was the same as the modular velcro (female) version that I had seen on my earlier flight.

Contents were identical in both male versions. Frankly I couldn't figure out what the velcro design is all about. It looks strange and doesn't seem functional to me. Maybe I am just ignorant of its true function...

I think they were both Biotherm. Yes I got the velcro version (very strange). I saw both velcro and non-velcro for both the male and female version. The thing was they seemed to discrimminate when they handed them out. In other words they would look at the seat number to decide who got what pack. I was flying on a complimentary upgrade and so assumed they gave me the cheaper version?

I think the looking at the manifest at that point is because they are in the "name-learning" phase before they have them all memorized (one of the many impressive parts of the CX service I feel).

I like the two-part bags - got one somewhere on my mad mileage run at the end of June. The best this about them is that they are so easy to pack when you split them apart. Normally I forget to leave space in my carryon for the 3 or 4 amenity bags I can collect on one of those runs, but this one effectively requires no space at all since the two parts just slide down an edge/corner.

I can confirm hot towels are back in regional J. Flew DPS-HKG today, and they were there.

Dear all,

About why the new Biotherm amenity kit has a two part design, my aunt offers me this interesting information. To her personally, she can use it as a cosmetic bag. Since it is divided into two part, it can easily be stored in some of her smaller (and fancier) handbags. Very convenient!

BTW, good to hear the hot towels are back... I can't wait to see them on my CX flight later this month.

About canapes in J class, canapes have been cut on North American flights before SARS... On European and Australia/NZ flights, canapes are offered... but nuts were offered as an alternate choice of cocktail snack back in 9/02...
