Reviving an old thread ...

Trying to book CX885 LAX-HKG in premium economy (Boeing 777-300ER 77W) and trying to find the amenities or differences as opposed to flying business (20K AA miles difference):

- Checked luggage allowance and weight
- Seat recline & pitch.
- Food and beverage: dine at anytime available? Premium libations, such as XO Cognac or premium Porto offered?
- Entertainment?

Thank you in advance!

Dine anytime is not available in PEY. Honestly, it's not even really available in J class. They have essentially a few hot snacks available "anytime" in J but the entire menu is not available except at the set meal intervals. The only true a la carte offering is in F class.

Entertainment system is identical on the entire plane F/J/Y/PEY, although the PEY screen is smaller than J. CX's entertainment system is excellent IMO and everyone gets the same content.

Lol there is nothing "premium" about CX's libations even in J class! They serve (if you're lucky) a bad LBV port in J class. That doesn't exist in PEY. Scotch in J class is JW Gold. In Y and PEY class, it's JW Black. Basically PEY gets I think a J class quality main with a Y class setting and Y class beverages, although I'm not sure myself. Just parroting what others say about PEY (I am speaking from experience with J).

The only good booze on the plane is in F. Naturally, we love to complain about that too.

You can take a look at our menus thread to get an idea for what you'll get if you choose J class. Search this forum "2019 Menus". The beverages in particular are very similar across all routes. We also maintain separate threads for each year 2018, 2017, etc. I know F and J menus have their own threads. Not sure about PEY and Y.

Agree on PEY but you can sort of do dine anytime in J. Whenever I fly 880/881/883 in J, I always ask the crew member if I can sleep after take off and hold my supper until I wake up (I let them know I will give them 30 minutes heads up before I want to eat). Never once I had my request rejected.

Since others have mentioned other parts I will just answer this. 2 pieces * 25kg (55lbs) each for Premium Economy, and 2 pieces * 32kg (70lbs) each for Business. See https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_....html#Americas

Just wanted to update you all about what I did ... booked the following for 70K AA miles X4 seats and thus avoiding CX and PEY:

- LAX-BOS in First #AA2800
- BOS-NRT in business #JL7
- NRT-BKK in business #JL7 07

Nevertheless, great data points above and appreciate all the input - cheers!
