Repeat Rewards Questions

I am one of those targeted at the 25,000 mile level for Repeat Rewards. My intention is to fly LAX-TPE return on a D class fare ticketed by AA (but as a CX flight not an AA code share) and to upgrade to F with miles. Since I will ultimately be flying in Z, will CX recognize I am on a paid D ticket so the Repeat Rewards bonus will post? The fine print says the "Repeat Rewards Personal Edition is not combinable with any other promoition, upgrade or discount offer". Could this possibly mean an upgraded ticket doesn't qualify? Would appreciate hearing if anyone has received the bonus flying on a ticket issued by AA and upgraded from D to F with miles. I certainly hate to lose the bonus but if I book with CX I can't upgrade.

As long as you fly LAX-HKG on CX you will be eligible for the bonus. But it is AA that must credit the miles on your paid fare ie D class, to your mileage account. CX does not award you the miles. AA does.

So if the miles don't post, you'd have to send in docs to AAdvantage to manually process the flights.

What D fare does AA quote on this route? CX offers $2200-$2600 fares round-trip (depending on day of the week) which I think are excellent. Indeed, I write from TPE, having just taken LAX-HKG-TPE (trip report in the works, including an incredible pumbing incident in the Wing!...)

Right now, AA only codeshares with CX to HKG, so AA's published fare to TPE is a codeshare with EVA. The lowest AA Business fare LAX-TPE, using the codeshare with EVA is ~$2650.

For May travel LAX-HKG-TPE R/T(no HKG stopover)AA and CX quote the same fare - $2800. CXLeverage is quoting about 20% less at $2200 but I'm not sure this is a D fare. If you want to use the AA code share on CX to HKG (AA6119, AA6120) then this breaks the fare and it increases to about $3500.

Since I will be doing this intinerary soon as my first venture into Taiwan, I'm looking forward to the trip report.

Quick question on this bonus:

I seem to remember receiving a postcard that higher bonuses than those listed on the website. I had no plans to travel to Asia this year, and I threw it away. Of course, now we're opening an office in Malaysia, and I'll be going a lot. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Did anyone else receive a postcard with higher bonuses? If so, was it the same Repeat Rewards code to sign up as the "regular" bonus? I'm hoping that's the case, and the system will automatically know what I'm supposed to receive....

I received a postcard offering the first roundtrip bonus at 25,000 miles. Another guy from my office also did and has already received the 25,000 miles bonus, and he only signed up on the AA.com website. I also signed up there and am leaving tomorrow to TPE via HKG in J class and fully expect to get the miles without any issues.

Where on AA.com can I sign up for this special 25,000 repeat bonus offer?

The 25,000 first round trip bonus is for Canadian AAdvantage members originating from YVR or YYZ only.

If you were targetted for the Personal Repeat Rewards offer and was sent a postcard, then you would already have been automatically registered for this programme.

If you're based in the USA, then your Repeat Rewards Offer would start at 15,000 points.
