Ever bad experience with CX FAs?
I think that most of us here think that CX FAs are great -and I absolutely agree. My experience with CX is 90%+ very very good although I have heard horror stories and have one or two to tell myself.
I wonder if any of the FTers here have had nasty experience with CX? |
I have encountered a couple of brusque agents at the check-in counters, but never had a bad experience with any other CX personnel in the lounges or on board the aircraft.

My flight back from HKG to LAX was the worst service I had experienced on CX FC. We were never addressed by name, had to ask for sleeper suits, slippers, etc. Almost didn't get a drink before the flight.....I could go on and on. We wrote a letter about the service, we did speak very highly about all the other flights and the excellent service they provided. |

I did a HongKong-Seoul-Hong Kong-Tapei flight business trip last week and found all the staff but one to be excellent. The odd one out seemed as though she had enough of passengers constantly going to the galley and was quite direct towards them.
I sympathised with her because the flight was full (yes I was in Y in accordance with my company policy for short flights) but do feel she could have shown more tolerance in handling these very thirsty playing card seeking passengers |

I have experienced a couple who seemed to be rather brusque, but they were never rude or impolite, merely that they seemed to smile less and not interact as well as the passengers. However, they were far from bad, just they didn't quite reach the really excellent standard some of CX's pursers offer.

As a young (25) and minority (Asian) traveler, I have often found myself the subject of mistreatment/discrimination by F/A's. It has been my experience that the F/A's will treat my seatmate (most often 40-50's Caucasian male) better: the F/A's would exhibit more "sincere" attitude with smiles to him whilst to me "polite" and efficient service.
It has been a long known fact that CX F/A's treats non-Asian travelers better, due to the fact that traditionally non-Asian (especially business) travelers spend more on tickets than their Asian counterparts. Even so, I question why some F/A's still have this kind of mentality, since having paid full-fare or slightly discounted tickets I believe I deserve similar treatment as my seatmate. Do they think all travelers that are "appropriate" for travel are only non-Asian in the 40-50's? I understand the premium cabins are usually occupied by more mature travelers, but that simply does not give the F/A's any right to neglect/mistreat someone who is "underage". Having flown CX for as long as I can remember flying, I have always liked CX service. I would continue to fly them since although the above phenomenon is true, I still get better treatment on CX than I do on UA or BA. AA and AS are better among the US carriers in terms of dealing with "underage" travelers in that regard. I must also add I have always been very courteous and polite to all F/A's. However, recently I have received more "insincere" service on CX than I have ever before, hence I have previously commented on FT that CX's J service has gradually deteriorated. While CX still has some noteworthy F/A's, too many GS, GA, and F/A's now provide "efficient" service. Some examples include "Sir, are you in Business/First....?" or "This side is for Business/First Class passengers only...." I think this is quite an insult, since they literally assume that I cannot read properly to go to the appropriate area to check-in/board. And my favorite "Are you in the right seat/area" look from the flight purser. These incidents I have also experienced many times on UA and AA. I guess I would have to wait at least 10 years to be treated like a "regular" passenger. When I got on the flight (first pax to board), I was immediately told that I was one of the the few "revenue bookings" in F for that flight. i too am asian but never been mistreated by the crew. all were very nice and friendly even when travelling by myself.

In F and J, never.
In Y, occasionally, yes. Served by sullen attendants. This is an area I find SQ (and often NH) is superb. I've never had bad experiences with SQ (or NH) even in Y. |
