This should help: https://www.liquor.com/articles/airline-cocktails/

"Oriental Breeze is a signature drink designed by us, a concoction of sour plum tea, cranberry juice, lemon juice, rose tea and honey." And garnished with a single dried rosebud, of course!

Tip for Cathay Delight, add a green apple to the blend, it makes it better, as BKK CX always adds the apple

The apple does change the texture a little... but overall still very close to what you're served on board.

The one on board is a little different because they come in powder form and they mix it with the kiwi juice.

It's not easy to DIY a Cathay Delight as it's really hard to buy kiwi juice in HK, none of my local grocers stock kiwi juice.

Do they even put Kiwi Juice in the one in BKK? I feel like I watched one time, saw the apple, but didn't see any Kiwi juice go in.

I snapped this one time in CX BKK, honestly have to say I drank one of my best Cathay Delights there

Don't think I've tried BKK's Cathay Delight, but looking at the ingredients, it's entirely different from the (official?) ingredients found in the on board menu, with the addition of vanilla syrup + green apple, and replacing kiwi juice with kiwi syrup. BKK's Cathay Delight is now on my to drink list whenever the current situation is over.

Watch for the recipe.

Very interesting. Cathay Delight is probably my favorite drink anywhere, but I had no idea the main ingredient was regular milk (which I don't normally drink). I just assumed it was mostly coconut milk plus kiwi-something.

Picked up a pack of Kiwis on my grocery run today. Gonna try my hand at this sometime and see how it fares vs the real thing.

Want to try this myself too... how important are the mint leaves? Not sure where to get them

sxc Apr 29, 2020 12:24 am

I think mint is quite important. You can usually find them in The larger HK supermarkets. Or in the wet market.
