There's a new booking site out there called www.zuji.com (what does the name mean?) I played around with their Singapore site, which along with .au are is the only one running as yet. They have slightly higher fares than what I buy locally in Taiwan, but unique and rather interesting routings there. Cathay comes up a lot, which of course I like, and even with reasonable fares. I managed to get BKK-JFK in November C class for just about USD 3000. So far I have always been able to buy cheaper and better routings from my agent, so I guess online booking still has way to go if you are not just flying hub to hub.

it means "what does orbitz mean?"

"Zuji" means "Footprint" in Mandarin.

seems the HK site is up and running,
but very low profile.

btw, zuji mean footprint and the connoation is mostly in past tense.
it means where you HAVE BEEN, but it does not mean "coverage" in chinese.

i am still not sure how it is related to a travel booking site. so to me it still means "orbitz" http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

People in asia are suspicious about computer websites. They believe that through their 'connections' that they can always get a better deal through their travel agency. Or at least 'bargain' for a better fare or package.

Plus there's always someone else to blame if something goes wrong.

It seems to be impossible to ticket the low fares zuji sometimes displays. It almost always comes back with regular iata fares - even if you select a lower fare option. try it.

I thought it looked like Travelocity until I saw the "powered by travelocity" bit. Too bad it doesn't have the dream maps and farelister functons.

For the rest of the 'civilised' world, lowest fares only exist with consolidators and unpublished resources.

Airlines do not publish their negotiated fares (normally in economy class) on CRS' with the sole exception from SINGAPORE. Some airlines like CX, UA, SQ have fares which are loaded onto various CRS which can display their lowest special fares.

But for the vast majority of airlines including the ones above, CRS do not display special low negotiated fares. Hence the travel websites will find resistence by the general public to use them for online booking.

Agree. Played around trying BKK-YVR on J with CX, initially it said US$2602 (I presume for roundtrip), and I continue to the "final" page, when it came back with US$5600 or something like that. On the first page, it did NOT say US$2602 per leg.

Also, tried BKK-SYD on CX. Strangely enough, both Y and J class fare was listed to be US$2207. Something is fishy.

It seems like that a lot of the fares offered on ZUJI (ex-Australia) are consolidator fares and resemble those found on www.travel.com.au, www.sydneytravel.com etc.

The "fare listing" feature is not needed on Zuji as for every booking, you WILL BE shown the fare listing and be allowed to choose the fare you want before proceeding.

from what i heard here it seems there is still a lot of work to be done. whether it is the industry conspiracy or technical failure is a mystery

So has anybody actually ticketed using this site? I'm looking at using the service, but the fare for next year ex-OZ in April has not been uploaded yet. I can see a AUD$1230 + tax at www.travel.com.au , but on the ZUJI, it's still showing AUD$1700+.

Just want to make sure this site is reliable, because I have a VERY bitter experience with trave.com.au

well i have been playing around with zuji au and hk for the past month and all I ever come up with is high fares. they don't seem to have the hang of it yet.

Zuji is a joint venture with a number of airlines...including CX.
The branding and the interface was all developed by a company called Ion Global - www.ion-global.com. They fired them mid way through and have had trouble keeping the interface clean since then. They are not known for good management or for making money.
