Availability - wild variations

Hi CX'ers - I have been tracking the availability of two CX flights - specifically - CX 839 YVR-HKG on 13 October
and CX 882 on 18 October - I have seen WILD variations in the availability from day to day and literally hour to hour - I suspect the flights are heavily booked - 839 certainly is - Do any of you insiders have a way of getting the actual booking numbers ??? Thanks

I'm flying on 829 YYZ-HKG on 12 October and 828 HKG-YYZ on 19 October and have been noticing very similar fluctuations. My contact at CX told me last week that 829 was oversold in both J and Y and the Y oversale was almost 40 passengers. I have no doubt that the YVR loads must be something similar.

Yes Yes and Yes....what is up with this and CX. I also noticed some flights in FC totally open one day and then on another completely booked.

I noticed the same thing, planning to fly to HKG. Is there some special occasion in HK the week of 10/21?

The South China Hi-Tech Fair is on in Shenzhen the week of 10-17 October, but thats the only thing I see that might affect traffic.

Bear in mind that CX has the ability to release inventory as it sees fit right up to the day of departure. What it giveths, it can also takeths away - anytime.

Wild Variations? Try the first week in Febuary 2003! I've been trying to book flights from YVR-HKG in 7, 8, 9, 10th of the Feb., but I've also witnessed similar kind of flucuation.

Uh... it's Chinese New Year!! Or that's the end of it... so the mass exodus earlier on returns to HKG during those dates.

That's exactly my point. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif One day I check for availability on 839 on 8th, then it's WIDE open... then the next day, it shows all 0. I don't think it's full yet... with my limited knowledge, I would account it for duplicate reservations, which should clear soon.
