CX seems perfectly happy to have many of their passengers use AA as their primary loyalty carrier. Note all of the bonuses and mileage discounts they target towards AA pax. I suspect they're happy with the arrangement, perhaps because they get to target their norht american and asian passengers with different programs this way.

oneworldFan, I am only a tad unhappy about the Marco Polo Club. But extremely pleased with Cathay Pacific overall. That is hardly a complaint. Whereas YOU off all things said, COMPLAIN majorly on ANYTHING and EVERYTHING about SINGAPORE AIRLINES. So I don't think you are one to start pointing fingers.
Your replies to posts are certainly not very helpful and they verge on being rude and condescending. Maybe it's to do with your education and upbringing, but normal people don't behave the way you do. And certainly not on FlyerTalk. |

if you earn more than what is needed for the tier you are given a renewal at the additional miles should be kept and not cleared.
i am with krisflyer and mpo so if i don't think i can make the next level then i will choose sq. thankfully my company allows me to select my own airline. |
The TG First Class lounge in BKK is quite nice: full bar, laser discs, massage chairs, putting green, finger sandwiches...

Refer to my original posted, I've got my diamond card today, 8 days after completed 120000 miles, my account started at 0, now it proved that we can get the status soon after we reach the qualify miles. But we have to be aware that we have to make careful calculation so that we won't spoil the extra miles, i.e. if you hve 190000 miles, just take a short flight to reach 120000.

It is also useful to note for renewals that it is the date of posting to the account which is important, not the date the flight was taken. However, as I understand it, you do get up until the end of the month in which your renewal becomes due for miles to post.
For example, my Diamond membership year runs from 2 January. If I have enough miles for renewal at Diamond by then then they reset with effect from 2 January; however, if I do not have enough miles they wait until 31 January before renewing at Diamond (if some more come in in that time) or Gold (if not). |
I wonder if CX will entitle you to Diamond membership if your qualifying miles falls just short around 119,800. I've never aimed at Diamond so I wouldn't bother to care, but it will be surprising if they loose your loyalty for that 200 miles.

I just transited BKK from SIN enroute to BOM on CX, and used the BA/QF First Class lounge. Very nice! Good food and drinks, and very spacious.

Well, excuuuuuuse me, I thought this thread was about the value of top-tier CX, and therefore OW Alliance membership. See the top posts about lounge access, which was where I came in (I've been on the road).

On the mileage bonusing thing.
CX has no real incentive to go to tier bonusing. If Asiamiles member flies 10,000 miles, then Cathay pays Asiamiles for 10,000 miles. If Aadvantage member flies 10,000 miles on CX, CX pays Aadvantage 10,000 miles, and the extra bonusing is at Aadvantage’s cost. So if CX gave tier bonuses the cost of FFP would increase for them, as they would have to pay Asiamiles the extra bonus, rather than AA… |
