codeshare with AA

since the current HK/US aviation agreement
prohibits codesharing between CX and AA
(i don't know the exact clause) but could
say CX operate a flight to NRT and let pax
connect to AA flights to SJC/DFW/JFK and put
CX on the NRT/US segment of the flight?

It's the same sort of agreement as codeshare direct from HKG.

That is why airlines like UA cannot put their codes on other airlines (ie TG/NH)that fly to HKG via Japan. Don't you think that they know that?

But savvy travellers may book their flights this way and connect from a CX flight to an AA flight and hence get oneworld mileage all the way through. But most people would rather fly direct.

As mentioned, CX codeshares on AA are not allowed. However, AA has published fares to HKG and all of them allow for one interline transfer. This means that AA will sell you a through-fare of DFW-HKG with DFW-NRT on AA (AA coded) and NRT-HKG on CX (CX coded).
