Is a partial refund possible?
 

I bought a ticket last March during the 10,000 AA bonus miles promotion for a flight this September. At that time the ticket was $799.00. I just checked their website to see how the planes are filling up, and so far they appear almost empty. At the same time I priced the exact flights and the new price is about $665.00.The new price is only there for less then a month, as I did price it about a month ago and it was still $799.00. Would CX make a refund for the difference of $134.00, as a voucher would not do me any good. I probably won't fly them again for at least a year. Also would I loose the 10000 bonus if they rebooked my ticket at the lower price? The promotion stipulated that the ticket had to be purchased by 3/31/02.
Yes, I will call CX, but we all know how some of the CS people are. Sometimes they don't know themselves and they assure everything will be ok, and then...... So I just want to get some expert CX FF opinion first.

There most likely will be a cancellation charge. The 10K bonus stipulates that you must complete your return trip. Partial flights will not qualify. Each time you do a change there will be a change fee of at least $100. So if you feel that you are not going to use that ticket, refund it. But you will not be getting the full refund back.

The new CX bonus is only 5K miles only when you complete your roundtrip. The fare might be lower but you are going to lose a lot more than if you are going to hang on to your existing ticket.

Better call CX. They have veto over what we say because they are the ones who issued the ticket. And call the internet fares desk - NOT regular reservations.
