Wireless Broadband in Lounge

I have used and learned to love the wireless broadband access provided by the CX lounge in HK and in Seoul. Does anyone know in which other lounges does CX provide wireless broadband access?

HKTraveler,

Cathay Pacific's lounge in Bangkok also offers wireless internet connection.

Have a great trip with CX - the world's best airline!

My notebook has wi-fi. How do I use CX's wireless broadband. Do I need to get a password from anybody?

No password is required for the CX service in the lounge at HKG. You would also get PCCW signal but this one is a fee service, I think.

At NRT, you can also go wireless for free but this is limited to some public areas, not at any of the airline lounges. But NRT wireless service is on a trial run right now and I believe it is until the end of this month.

I use the wing all the time and did not know about WIFI access - what is the SSID??

Unterwegs Jul 26, 2002 7:08 pm

Network name in the wing and in NRT is
'cathay'.
No password etc required.
I found this by doing a scan and looking for network names (My Orinoco card with latest - about 2 or 3 month old - SW release makes this easy).

The service is free in HK and Seoul and i bet it is the same in other CX lounges where it is available. There is no password required. But I am not technical enough to tell you how to connect since my laptop is setup with a profile that works already.

Writting from ICN lounge right now, network name here is also 'cathay' and no setup required. The Wing doesn't work for me all the times, but I think this is due too many network profiles in my PC: home, office 1, office 2, PCCW, Cathay, etc.

It didn't work for me in The Wing until I turned 128-WEP on and set up the key they provided at the service desk. Can't remember the key (it's buried somewhere in my laptop now) but they seem pretty happy to give it out to anyone who needs it. The SSID is indeed "cathay" - note lowercase "c".

I used the HKG one a few months ago and it had a 128 WEP key. Has that changed?
