Originally posted by kanebear: It's not quite that easy. I did just that to get into the F side of The Wing. You not only need the ticket, you need a boarding pass AND the printed lounge invitation for that day, otherwise it's no entry. They specifically asked for AND lifted the lounge invite and wanted to see the boarding pass. I didn't have time before my flight to go to Cathay customer service and surrender the ticket. After the fact their telephone support was unwilling to refund the ticket. Still, the HKG-TPE fare in F was something like $260. Others may think I'm foolish but I think it's worth it and would pay that again for access!! |
Given the response (15 so far!) it turns out that it was not such an easy question after all. Inspite of the much-touted (but short on delivery) alliances, airline members promulgate their own lounge access rules and change these rules at will frequently and inconsistently!
Isn't this what the oneworld alliance was supposed to address? |

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I don't think CX's change in rules regarding long-haul flights that transit to China are such a huge change. If I understand, Diamond members already have lounge access no matter what airline they fly on, so the only real change is allowing Gold members to use the lounge when transiting to China? Is this correct? If so, why has CX made both Gold and Diamond members eligible for lounge access on flights to China when Diamond members already have access?

rite, it is for gold member.
for diamond, you get into F lounge instead of J lounge |
