Ticket rule question... is this allowed?

Hi fellow flyers, I need your wisdom.

Situation:
I currently hold return portion of open B-Class ticket, YVR to HKG. I also have reservation for M-class ticket, starting with HKG-YVR with ongoing 3 segments to Australia.

I can make a booking for B-class on the day I want to leave (21st, Dec) for HKG. However, for M-class ticket, I only have bookings for the day prior to my intended travel date (19th).

I would like to use the B-Class ticket to travel to HKG from YVR so that I can travel on the day I want. Consequently, I will also forfeit the first segment of my M-class ticket (19th, YVR-HKG).

Question:

1) Do airline ticketing rule allow me to do this?
2) Even if the rule allows, will my reservation for the ongoing 3 segments be cancelled automatically if I do not show up for the first segment? I will ask CX to make a notice on my file, but I fear that Checkin agents will do not bother read through my file remarks, and simply cancel all of my bookings.

Your advise is appreciated! Thanks

Ted

Because you are using two seperate tickets, you are allowed to do as long as you do not use the first sector of your M class ticket. I take it you're using B class YVR-HKG, and then onto Australia on the M class ticket. (How may I ask is the routing from HKG-YVR to go onward to Australia? HKG-YVR-HKG-SYD-HKG?)

If you decide to do it, you must cancel the HKG-YVR in M class as you have no intention to use it anyway. Just don't ever use it in reverse after your Australian trip ! You are allowed to 'mix' reservation classes in one booking PNR. (I do it all the time).

Guy Betsy, thanks for your time. Perhaps I didn't make myself clear enough, so here's more information:

Yes, that's correct. I also do not intend to use the first segment of M-class ticket either. And of course, I will have the 3 segments of M-class to return from SYD-HKG-YVR in January.

I'm sorry, but I didn't quite get what you meant in this, did I mislead you? Let me clarify. I will have 2 tickets:

Ticket 1
The B-class ticket was originally issued in HK last January, HKG-YVR-HKG. I have already used the HKG-YVR portion, so I have the return portion still in my hand.

Ticket 2
I will issue the ticket for YVR-HKG-SYD-HKG-HKG on M-class. But I can't get the preferred departing on this M-class ticket. Therefore, I intend to use my ticket in the following order:

1) YVR-HKG (the B-class) on 21st, and cancel YVR-HKG (19th) on the M-class.
2) HKG-SYD (M-class) on 24th.
3) BNE-HKG (M-class) on 7th of Jan.
4) HKG-YVR (M-class) on 8th of Jan.

Is it possible to just "cancel" the first segment without loosing the reservation for 3 onward segments? I hope I made my situation little more clear this time... Thanks in advance. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/redface.gif Guy Betsy, I understood why I mislead you. I'm so sorry, I made a terrible mistake in my original post.

fakecd - Your email doesn't work!

So I'm going to post my email to you here -

Hi

Guy Betsy here...

Can you please give me your exact dates/ flightnumbers / routing for all your flights. The way I see it is to rebook your M class ticket sectors onto your original YVR-HKG sector with the B class sectors. And then cancel the existing M class sectors with the YVR-HKG M class sector that you don't want...but that might cause CX to ask why you are doing this.

But if the dates that you want between HKG-SYD - HKG-YVR is still available on M class, then rebook this reservation on to your B class record PNR. CX will not ask you to 'show' your ticket before they do it, all that they ask is if you are allowed to make changes. Say YES. They won't ask you for ticket numbers as the ticket numbers on the B class ticket is already on file.

Plus some tickets on CX mix classes especially on tickets between North America and Australia.

If you need me to do the whole booking for you, I would be happy to.

regards
Wayne Tan
aka Guy Betsy

(PS - I used to live in YVR too!)
