Price increase effective April 1st
Does anyone know how much of a price increase took place effective April 1st? The ticket from YVR to HKG that used to cost me around 1600 for high season is not 1900 on CX. Also, is this just CX or is it for all airlines?
By the way, another unrelated question. When I use ITN.com and do an advanced flight search that shows the inventory for each booking class, what does the numbers behind the letter means? For example, I suppose "J9" means there are more than 9 seats available for J class bookings, and "Q0" means no more seats on sale for Q class. But, when it say "M6", does it mean only 6 more seats for M class? Or something else? Thanks, cheers* |
Change that to "x or more" seats and you've got the right idea. Airlines generally don't like to display more than 4, 7 or 9 availbable seats per fare class.

I don't know if this is what has to do with your case but in mid-March, a few agents in a couple of Asian cities told me that there may be an IATA fare increase on April 1. (They 'expect' one, they said.)
If an increase is airline-specific, they usually know by then (at least two weeks ahead) how much increase there would be but they usually don't know the degree of increase they would have to face if it's initiated by IATA, so they told me. I've checked published fares last night and it didn't seem there was any increase. If there was, it was probably marginal. I didn't notice it. |
Well, my agent has also told me that IATA has raised the price on April 1st, and I remember he was urging me to issue and pay for the ticket I have reserved b4 it goes up. The increase seemed pretty significant to me, so it came to my attention.
