Op. upgrade on award ticket
Just wanted say thanks, CX. Was op. upgraded to business while traveling on a coach award ticket on flight from KIX-HKG. They told me coach was pretty full. Not bad for OW Sapphire and using an award ticket.

Just wanted say thanks, CX. Was op. upgraded to first while traveling on a business award ticket on flight from HKG-CDG. They told us plane was entirely sold out. Not bad for OW Emerald + Sapphire and using award tickets. (On the contrary, BA doesn't let your mileage number on the system when on an award ticket hence your OW elite status makes no difference...)

As for BA, I have mixed experiences. In December, on an award tix, BA did show my oneworld status. I checked in at LHR. Just last week, I also used an award tix with BA and they didn't show when I checked in at KUL. I just wanted my status printed out on it since I didn't have my new AA card and didn't want to persuade an agent into letting me into an Executive Lounge at LHR. Getting back to CX, I just had HKG-NRT this weekend and the business cabin had a lot of op. upgraded passengers -- This I assumed because in the upper cabin, an attendant went to a few select pax to get their meal choices first, before going to take orders from the first to the last rows. Ah, the guy who was ahead of me at the boarding gate was upgraded to first, so the agent said. [This message has been edited by Chiangi (edited 02-13-2001).] |

my uncle and his wife were also just op. upgraded from business to first on HKG-SYD with award tickets a few weeks ago...my uncle is CX Gold (OW Sapphire)...
my understanding is, when doing operational upgrades, CX probably makes no distinction between revenue and award passengers...as long as you have a confirmed booking, status is what matters...however, for example, if you are a CX Gold waitlisting for a J seat at the airport, when they are doing op. upgrades, they would upgrade CX Silver and others in J to F first, and give the CX Gold a J seat, instead of upgrading the CX Gold who doesn't have a confirmed booking... but, what I am still not sure is...what's the op. upgrade priority of CX MPO vs oneworld elites ?? for example, is the order CX Diamond, 1W Emerald, CX Gold, 1W Sapphire, CX Silver, 1W Ruby...or, CX Diamond, CX Gold, 1W Emerald, 1W Sapphire, CX Silver, 1W Ruby...or in other order ?? is there a clear priority list that the agents follow ?? |
