Checking on J pax while in F
Flying HKG-JFK on CX F while my parents are in CX J. Wanted to check on my parents periodically during the flight, but have heard mixed things about F pax being able to walk into the J cabin (e.g., allowed ex-US, but not allowed ex-HKG).
Can anyone share their experiences? Thanks! |
Never had any issues visiting someone in a lower cabin, regardless of origin. I highly doubt the crew will mind unless you're in their way, like during meal services.

You will have to watch other pax in J as well...

As silverchris says, there is absolutely no restriction on F pax visiting J ex HKG or any other port AFAIK. The reverse (J visitng F) is where there might be mixed reports.

Passengers pay a premium to travel in J, whether that means cash - redemption - or whatever. I don't care if J is "lower" than F, last thing I (and pax) need is extra disruption in the cabin when they are trying to get a couple hours of sleep in.

Whether a passenger is allowed to visit a lower cabin versus whether they should visit a lower cabin. (Personally I agree with you, pax should stay within their cabins, (a) to minimise disruption and (b) lower cabins aren't some circus show for higher classes to make themselves feel good. There might be an exception in the case of IRROPS where a family is split up on the new flight.) |

No problem. It would have been cool if you had put your parents in F.

Slightly OT. If I were in the situation, my parents would decline to be put in F even if I had offered. They don't drink much and like to go straight to sleep, and would insist that F is wasted on them... ;)
On the other hand, i always like to pay for my parents dinners and expenses as best as possible to recognize what they did for me. Just my .02. |
Some how I am under the impression that you cannot do that (F passenger visiting J cabin) HKG-JFK due to security regulations but JFK-HKG is OK.

When you're flying F, you have every right to check on the plebeians at the back.

These kind of snarky remarks do not make flyertalk a better place. This isn't high school.
