Upgrade policy on CX ....
A topic which people want to know...
It was a full flight out of Sydney today, and the staff were in a frenzy obviously upgrding people. I calmly walked over and asked what their policy is on upgrades. They say : 1) Invitation Members 2) CX - Diamond 3) CX - Gold 4) CX - Silver 5) Oneworld - Emerald 6) Oneworld - Sapphire Okay - now we know. I was in First Class anyway... |
How does one get an invitation status? Do I have to know some top management to be invited?
|
It used to be "Diamond Life status" which was attained after something like 10 years as a Diamond member. But when ONeworld came along, CX removed that and now, it's a matter of 'being invited' only.
It's still along the lines of being at least 10 years at diamond membership - though the rules are more vague these days. |
Thanks for the info GB.
If you don't mind me asking, what benefits does one receive as an Invitation member compared to Diamond? |
The old rule was 10 years as MPO (even Green would do), and 2 million km.
That gave you a lifetime Green Card, but access to F lounges instead of J, two upgrades a year, etc. It's interesting that Marco Polo Silver come ahead of OW Emerald and Sapphire. I doubt that AA put Plat ahead of Emerald or Gold ahead of Sapphires. But I could be wrong. |
Cx and Sq should have remained together in the now defunct Passages.... there are like twin brothers in many respects.
I deeply regret the CX upgrade policy and the way OW treat its loyal customers flying in coach... I find CX great for coach travel, even better than SQ ( at least, the FA regularly serve drinks and offer coffee AFTER your meal and not during it, like SQ which means that by the time you're done with your meal your coffee has turned an ice one!) to sum up, one has more chances to walk on the sea than being upgraded with CX and SQ. |
Interesting to hear how CX works... If anybody wants to learn more about CX's twin brother SQ's upgrade policy and treatment of PPS members, please check: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum88/HTML/000053.html ------------------ Gaucho100K |
