Beijing and Shanghai CX First class lounge
Has anyone been to the CX First class lounge at Beijing or Shanghai airport lately? Which one would be a better lounge? All replies are much appreciated.

As a clarification, CX does not have a First Class lounge at PEK or PVG. CX has a Business Class lounge in both places...I *suspect* this is your meaning. Note these are called the Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon (KA) lounges. KA is CX's wholly-owned subsidiary which flies most of the flights to PEK and PVG.
Welcome to the forum. If you have time search around, there's a lot of details about them around here. They're nothing to get too excited about F&B, although they're generally large and roomy and "good enough". But absolutely nothing to plan your day around. Just an afterthought if you have time in the airports. |

1. No more KA and CX (or CX and KA... whatever) lounge... Only CX lounge now.... :(
2. Never been to other lounges in PVG so can't comment on this... In PEK had been to both CA First Class lounge (by using PP) and the paid Business Class lounge (also using PP, which is if I remembered correctly is the one use by BA)... I'd say unless you want a shower there I'll stick with CX lounge |

Tried 2 days ago the Shanghai CX lounge, upon my arrival on AC 17 from Montreal.
As others have mentioned, there are no showers and the food & beverage offering was not up to the standards of the CX HK, Narita-Haneda lounges. |
Last visit to the CX lounge in PVG was a year ago. Nothing has changed and the food is still underwhelming

i dont think its fair to compare cx and jl flagship lounges with anything in china... dont forget the fake food they serve in china so it would be of your best interest if cx serves nothing in their china lounges

CX lounges in China are dreadful. It's an embarrassment for an airline that makes so much of its money from overpriced tickets to China that they can't even offer their premium customers a decent lounge. The Hainan and Skyteam lounges at PEK show it is possible even in China to have a half decent lounge.
For PEK if you hvae PP just head to the Air China First Class lounge. Less people and the food is as awful as the CX lounge. |
I've posted a couple of photos from the PEK CX lounge from my recent visit there. The lounge itself is nothing special, but good enough if you want a snack or drink while waiting for a flight.

Thank you so much for all your feedback/suggestions. Considering my flight (BA160) will only depart PVG at 00:40, I don't think I will be able to visit the CX lounge as they are only open until 20:15 (according to the OneWorld website). It has to be the China Eastern Plaze Premium Lounge...:(
