Split PNR for better chance of up-op?
I'm GO flying with the mrs (SL) HKGBKK in April. Will I get a better chance of an up-op if I split the booking?
She will not be returning on her non-refundable flight home. I can split the booking to get HKD130 back in airport fees from her ticket. I'm not doing this for the money so would I get a higher chance of an up-op? Thanks |
No
Quite a number of times even a group of ppl are all under one PNR (under GV2 group fare) check-in desk only offer to op-up me only (both ex-outport and ex-HKG) But if they see that you are traveling in a group they will ask do you want an op-up if only you get it |
HKG-SIN December 2014
I was GO, Brother was SL, Parents were GR. We checked-in together under the same PNR. Check-in agent offered op-up (Y to PEY) to me only due to overbooking and asked whether I would take it. On board the aircraft, PEY was rather empty with maybe at least 5+ seats around me. Parents reported Y to be full. |
I was on two PNRs with my family in 2006 or 2007. My wife and kids flew together but I had a shorter vacation. We returned HKG-SFO together. The check-in agent was prepared to op-up me, but when she saw I was actually part of a group of four, she called inside and offered me an op-up for two (although both I was alone on my itinerary).
I was on vacation in HKT two years ago. We were traveling together on one PNR, but I was offered an op-up and asked if I would take it. I was seated in the J cabin on a Y ticket to TPE about two years ago. I had a travel companion on a different PNR. When I asked to re-seat myself in the Y cabin, they seated my travel companion in the J cabin instead. So combined or separate PNRs don't matter much. |
Thanks everyone!
