guys, does anybody know what availability is like with the rewards seat? (one way will be deffo in economy) it I've tried to check right now for next week, and there are still loads of seats available. Is this usually the case? ely in the

I haven't booked my trip yet, which will be on the 7th or 8th until 12th of march. but yeah, if the rewards seat are usually available without any problems a week before departure, I'd happily wait until then.

does anyone have experience on this? :D tips?

I recently used Avios to redeem 4 * JL J NRT-HKG around Christmas period. No seats at all on CX, even in Y. But I could book JL. Quite looking forward to it as I have never flown JL but done CX a number of times. I paid 80K Avios for the 4 tickets.

I agree that using Avios on HKG-TYO is one of the biggest bargains.

You should book ASAP. The most you can see will be Y9B9H9K9M9M9L9V9... Unless you know someone inside CX, you cannot tell whether there are only 9 seats left or more. The availability can get down to 0 suddenly although early March is usually better. If you must fly, it is better to buy a ticket.

Nice, I think it's a real bargain for sure. Tickets go usually for £350 return with CX in lowest economy. which is a lot

I only need 1 seat to go and 1 coming back. might actually sit down and get it sorted. JAL would be nice. I'd be happy to book with them as well,I think I'll get 2x one ways as mixing JAL and CX requires more avios than booking two separate

I agree with this. What happens is that sooner or later, a whole bunch of HKG tour groups will book those flights in blocks and consume all of these seats, as Japan is probably the most popular tourist destination for Hong Kongers. Better to book now first and think later.

Yes just book 2 one-ways as you get no advantage of booking return ticket, but suggest you do it quick .....

I booked my flight there, the 1.10 AM flight as I'll be going to the airport a few hours before to enjoy the CX lounges, and sleep on my flight (saves me a night at the hotel in HK). Deciding on the actual flight back to HKG, which is on the 13th.

Not sure whether to get the 10.35AM from NRT, the 16.20PM from HND in Biz, or possibly the 18.10... but it gets in HKG a bit too late for my liking. mhhh... decisions decisions

does anybody know if the CX0549 business flight from HND to HKG has a bed? or is it the regional service with reclinable seats?

xmrbrightside89 Feb 5, 2017 12:38 pm

UPDATE guys, snatched the CX0549 HND to HKG in business as It's a four class plane. 11000 avios+£97. not bad as a one way in business (or return) is about £1800 :D:D:D bargain!

xmrbrightside89 Feb 6, 2017 3:49 am

can anyone tell me what to expect on the 0549. Meal wise, snack and do they still give amenities kits on a 5h15mins flight? :D getting well excited

BA6501 Feb 6, 2017 9:18 am

You'll likely have dinner on the flight, no amenity kits. But almost guaranteed a lie-flat.

thanks for that! I think it's a lie-flat for sure, as the seat selection shows as the herringone seat 1+2+1 configuration :D
haha pity about the no kit, but I understand as it's just over 5 hours
